Secondary English Teacher (Cambridge IGCSE)

Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate, articulate, and dedicated EnglishTeacher to join our secondary faculty. In this role, you will inspirestudents to develop critical literacy, analytical voice, and creativeexpression, equipping them with the skills needed to excel in their Cambridge IGCSE English examinations.

You will be responsible for creating an engaging, text-rich classroom environment that sharpens students' reading comprehension, essaywriting, and critical thinking skills while fostering a lifelong appreciationfor language and world literature.

Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, comprehensive lessons adhering to the Cambridge IGCSE English curriculum,

    Skill Development: Train students in advanced textual analysis, structured essay writing, creative composition, and persuasive speaking.

    Student Assessment: Design, administer, and rigorously grade formative essays and summative assessments based on Cambridge marking rubrics. Provide actionable feedback to accelerate student growth.

    Exam Preparation: Implement targeted revision strategies, analyze past-year papers, and conduct intensive workshops on exam techniques to maximize student performance in international examinations.

    Differentiated Instruction: Adapt teaching methodologies to support diverse language proficiency levels, ensuring both high-ability learners and those requiring language support are adequately scaffolded.

    Stakeholder Communication: Maintain regular, professional communication with parents and school leadership regarding student progress, pastoral care, and academic milestones.

Required competencies and certifications

  • Degree: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in English Literature, English Language, Linguistics, Education (with an English major), or a related humanities field.
  • Teaching Qualification: A formal teaching credential (e.g.,B.Ed., PGDE, NIE certification, CELTA/DELTA, or equivalent international teaching license) is highly preferred.

    Track Record: Minimum of 2 to 5 years of proven experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE English (First Language and/or Literature), with a history of strong student examination results.

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Experience preparing students for Cambridge IGCSE Level examinations.
  • Ability to design differentiated learning pathways for both high-achieving and struggling students.
  • 1–2 years of secondary school teaching experience or passion as a newly qualified teacher.
