Seed Production Crop leader

  • Manage, organize, and control all pepper seed production activities, ensuring efficient operational execution, compliance with quality standards, and timely delivery of production targets.

Accountabilities

  • Ethics, HSE, GSPP and QM Commitment and accountability. Perform all tasks in a compliant manner with company safety policies, including completing all required training sessions and attending local safety meetings.
  • Establish and manage the weekly planning of the department in coordination with the team to ensure optimal workforce allocation and field productivity.
  • Organize, control, and verify all pepper seed production operations, from sowing to harvest, ensuring efficiency, high seed quality results, and compliance with quality standards.
  • Lead and supervise field teams on a daily basis, monitoring performance, productivity, and task execution in the field.
  • Ensure close field follow-up of crops to guarantee optimal agronomic performance, yield, and seed quality.
  • Participate in the control and verification of parental line purity in assigned crops.
  • Carry out accurate production estimations and monitor yield and productivity indicators.
  • Collect, analyze, and manage production and field data to support decision-making, performance tracking, and continuous process improvement.
  • Identify opportunities for process and productivity improvement and contribute to the implementation of improved agronomic and operational practices.
  • Train, coach, and onboard newly hired employees, ensuring skills development, productivity, and adherence to procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding production progress, quality performance, and operational needs.
  • Inspect crops regularly for diseases, pests, and physiological disorders, ensuring timely corrective actions.
  • Ensure team safety, compliance with HSE standards, and a safe working environment in all field activities.
  • Responsible for establishing and managing variety reproductions in accordance with technical, quality, and productivity requirements.

Coach/mentor direct reports and contribute towards employee skill development and engagement on day-to-day basis. Participate in recruiting or people initiatives as appropriate.

Knowledge, Experience & Capabilities

Critical Knowledge:

  • MS degree in Agronomy, Plant Sciences or related field, or BS degree and ≥ 5 years of experience

  • MS Office tools and digital fluency to effectively capture data and manage the cropping trials using appropriate IT systems

  • Ability to have a multi-year track record of high yield or quality performance, when compared to like areas / growers. Prevents problems before they occur.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and local language
  • Ability and motivation to learn new technologies. (Irrigation systems, climatic control ..)

Must be available for unscheduled work based on field conditions and weather (including weekends).
