St Edmund’s and St Joseph’s Catholic Primary Schools is looking for a SEND Specialist Unit Lead.

This is an exciting opportunity to take on the role of unit lead at the federation of St Edmund’s and St Joseph’s Catholic Primary Schools. We are looking for a teacher with SEND experience and knowledge to lead our specialist provision, The Nest, as the schools join The Our Lady of Walsingham Academy Trust in September 2026.

The role involves a teaching commitment of 2 days per week within the Nest and day to day oversight of the unit alongside the 3 class teachers. There are 30 pupils spread across 3 classes with a range of communication and learning needs. The unit is well-resourced and located in its own space on the school site in an award-winning building designed to provide a calm and nurturing environment for pupils. The successful candidate will take on the Designated Safeguarding lead at the unit alongside the DSL team in the federation.

You will be joining an established federation of two primary schools where shared planning and assessment are designed to support staff well-being. Cross federation working provides opportunities for collaboration, coaching and mentoring. There is strong professional development and well-being support for all staff.

You will play a leading role in supporting the faith life of the school and supporting pupils to live and learn according to Catholic Social Teaching Principles.
