Senior Account Director

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Account Director based in the United States.

This role sits at the intersection of client strategy, commercial ownership, and team leadership, responsible for guiding one of the organization’s most important client partnerships. You will act as the senior strategic lead across a portfolio anchored by a key enterprise client, ensuring both long-term growth and flawless day-to-day execution. The position requires someone who can move seamlessly between high-level business strategy and detailed operational oversight while maintaining strong financial discipline and delivery excellence. You will lead senior client relationships, shape multi-channel media strategies, and ensure alignment across internal delivery teams. In parallel, you will own account performance, resourcing decisions, and margin protection while mentoring and developing account team members. This is a highly visible leadership role where your decisions directly influence client success, revenue growth, and overall account health.

Accountabilities:

You will be responsible for full ownership of assigned client accounts, ensuring strategic direction, operational excellence, and commercial performance are consistently delivered. This includes leading client relationships, managing internal teams, and driving both growth and efficiency across the portfolio.

  • Lead end-to-end account ownership across a portfolio of strategic clients, ensuring delivery excellence across all campaigns and initiatives
  • Establish and maintain operating rhythms, workflows, and planning structures across internal teams and external partners
  • Oversee resourcing, capacity planning, and delivery performance, proactively resolving bottlenecks and risks
  • Act as senior escalation point for client and operational issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution
  • Own vendor relationships, including contracting, negotiations, compliance, billing, and performance tracking
  • Manage account budgets, ensuring accurate forecasting, margin protection, and financial accountability across all workstreams
  • Lead client growth strategy, including QBRs, annual planning, and identification of expansion opportunities within existing accounts
  • Mentor and develop account team members, fostering capability building, accountability, and performance excellence
  • Requirements:

    The ideal candidate brings deep experience in agency account leadership with a strong blend of strategic thinking, commercial ownership, and team management capability. You are confident in client-facing environments and comfortable navigating complex stakeholder structures.

    • 8–12 years of experience in marketing, with 7+ years in senior account management or client leadership roles within a media or integrated agency
    • Proven experience managing large, complex client relationships and multi-channel programs
    • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, margin management, and scope negotiation
    • Demonstrated experience in vendor management and contract negotiation (SOWs, rate cards, commercial terms)
    • Prior people management experience, including mentoring, performance management, and team development
    • Excellent communication and executive presentation skills, with confidence in senior client settings
    • Strong strategic and commercial mindset, with the ability to connect media investment to business outcomes
    • Highly organized, resilient under pressure, and capable of leading teams through ambiguity
