Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Senior Accountant, we'll count on you to\:

HDR is seeking a Senior Accountant to support our Saudi Arabia Regional Headquarters (RHQ), providing operational and financial accounting support for Saudi‑based operations and regional activities supported through the RHQ, including the United Arab Emirates, as required.

This role works closely with regional Project Managers and operational teams while partnering with U.S.-based accounting functions operating within a centralized close, reporting, and statutory framework. The Senior Accountant will support selected accounting activities locally, contribute to audit and compliance efforts, and help maintain strong financial discipline across RHQ‑supported operations.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting and Financial Reporting Support

  • Prepare and post selected journal entries requiring professional judgment and a strong understanding of underlying business activities.
  • Perform selected high‑risk account reconciliations and maintain appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Prepare draft local/entity financial statements and supporting schedules for Saudi Arabia and other RHQ‑supported entities, including variance analysis and explanatory commentary, for review by U.S.-based accounting teams.
  • Support month‑end and year‑end close activities by providing timely, accurate schedules, explanations, and documentation.

Audit and Compliance Support

  • Assist with internal and external audit activities and compliance requirements for Saudi Arabia and other RHQ‑supported jurisdictions, including preparation of schedules, responses to audit inquiries, and coordination of requested support.
  • Maintain accounting documentation in accordance with HDR policies, procedures, and internal control expectations.
  • Coordinate with Corporate and Operations Accounting, and other internal functions such as Tax, Treasury, Procurement, Human Resources, and Legal, as required.

Project and Operational Finance Support

  • Partner with Project Managers and operational teams to provide ongoing administrative support, such as organizing Project Reviews, project documents and document control, reports, specifications and correspondence.
  • Review project financial information at the direction of the Assistant Regional Accounting Director (ARAD) and Project Accountant (PA), including budget tracking, project status/PPC updates, workloads and schedules, and assist in identifying risks, issues, and required actions.
  • Support consistent financial discipline across projects at the direction of the (A)RAD in accordance with contract requirements and HDR procedures, which includes company quality assurance guidelines.

Process Improvement and Team Support

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen execution, improve data quality, and enhance coordination between regional and corporate teams.
  • Provide guidance and informal support to project teams regarding financial processes, expectations, and timelines.
  • Assist with financial system enhancements, upgrades, and testing activities as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in operational or financial accounting, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and support of close activities.
  • Experience working with auditors or supporting external audits.
  • Ability to work effectively with both finance and non‑finance stakeholders, including Project Managers.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a project‑based environment such as engineering, construction, or professional services.
  • Exposure to WIP, project accounting, billing, and receivables processes.
  • Experience working in a multinational organization or within a centralized/shared‑services accounting model.
  • Familiarity with Oracle EBS or similar ERP systems.
  • Experience supporting operations across multiple jurisdictions within the Middle East.
