Senior Application Specialist - Payments

  • Strong understanding of payment rails (Fedwire, SWIFT, RTP, TCH and Third-Party Foreign Currency) methodologies, architectures, including authorization, clearing and settlement networks, execution, routing, Industrial regulatory requirements and changes. Familiar with NACHA/The Clearing House/Fed/ISO file formats

Position Overview

The Sr. Application Specialist - Banking is a senior level position and serves as a subject matter expert various payment systems they support. They are accountable for ensuring the day-to-day operations of the systems under their charge and for supporting and implementing change and configuration management, including testing and defect management relating to new product implementations, development releases, upgrades, patches, and other system maintenance as required. Application Specialists will work closely with Business resources and stakeholders, internal Technology teams, and various vendors and third-party consultants and implementers. They must understand their application’s interdependencies with other applications and infrastructure both internally and outside the corporate network.

Ongoing knowledge of current and changing business and technological environments, trends and strategy is important to success. This position will also support/lead acquisition and conversion activities related to their business domains.

What You’ll Do

  • Day-to-day management of payment applications, including implementing new systems, testing, coordinating release of configurations, etc.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams to support and define business and technical requirements, operational processes, application strategy and project/product implementation.
  • Design and administer application software configuration to meet the business process design and application requirements.
  • Support corporate compliance, regulatory and both internal and external audit examinations and reviews.
  • Provide Tier 2 application-level support and troubleshooting, escalation and complex problem solving.
  • Understand the interdependencies of systems and data across the banking business line to identify and analyze impacts as applications and systems are integrated, changed/upgraded and retired.
  • Must be willing to provide support 24x7x365.

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of experience working in a banking or financial services environment with special emphasis on applications implementation, testing, maintenance, configuration, and support.
  • Advanced understanding of how to troubleshoot application/system performance.
  • Experience with system testing including creation of a test plan and documentation of results.
  • Active payment support responsibilities within past 5 years, real practical knowledge.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (this is very detailed work).
  • Experience with system testing including creation of a test plan and documentation of results.
  • Time management – critical payment outages are time sensitive.
  • Previous knowledge of Finastra PayPlus or Global PayPlus (wire transfer applications) and other payment systems.
  • Knowledge of entire payment cycle, including interfaces, processing, settlement, etc.
  • Experience with hands-on, keyboard work for payments.
  • Knowledge of entire payment cycle, including interface.
  • Able to work with strict deadlines and time pressure.

Compensation

The estimated salary range for this role is $100,000.00 - $130,000.00, along with eligibility to earn an annual bonus. Actual salaries may vary based on several factors, such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills and experience.
