SENIOR/ASSOCIATE HYDROGEOLOGIST, ENGINEER OR TECHNOLOGIST – Calgary, AB, or Remote
A Day in the Life
As an Senior/Associate Hydrogeologist or Engineer, in our Calgary or one of our other Alberta offices, you’ll be responsible for assisting multiple projects where you will have increasing interaction with our multi-disciplinary staff, regulatory agencies and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals.
The compensation range for this role is $110,000 to $185,000, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location
To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:
Actively participate and drive the strong safety culture at Onterris
Support the management of site assessment, monitoring and remediation project scopes, timelines, budgets, and communication with clients and project related stakeholders
Prepare and/or review technical correspondence, proposals, work plans, cost estimates, and reports
Work within a well-organized, and innovative culture with support systems that empower our professionals to focus on providing high quality solutions to our clients
Transfer knowledge, share experiences, and support the training and mentorship of colleagues
Be part of a technical practice community that supports team and personal innovation, and growth and success at all levels
Your Expertise and Skills

An undergraduate or graduate degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or Engineering
A minimum of 12 years of consulting experience in contaminated site management including site assessment, remediation, and monitoring projects
A member in good standing in a professional organization (e.g. APEGA) with a minimum of two (2) years of experience reviewing and stamping technical reports with a focus on groundwater contamination management
Experience writing and reviewing technical reports, preparing work plans and cost estimates, and giving presentations to multi-stakeholder groups
Experience with the Alberta Energy Regulator’s OneStop tool and working knowledge of provincial regulatory frameworks in Alberta; knowledge of regulatory frameworks in other Western provinces is considered an asset
Experience and assertiveness in driving scope, schedule and budget for complex projects
Experience with soil logging, sample collection, monitoring well installation, field screening, sample selection, and quality control
Strong data evaluation skills and ability to make decisions based on findings
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), and a collaborative attitude with a willingness to provide technical direction and mentorship to junior professionals
A valid and clean class 5 driver’s license with no restrictions
