Senior Backend Developer (PHP/Go) – Platform & Payments
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Backend Developer (PHP/Go) – Platform & Payments based in Brazil.
This is a high-impact backend engineering role focused on building and evolving scalable, high-performance systems that power platform and payments infrastructure. You will contribute to the design and development of robust APIs, distributed services, and backend architectures that support large-scale digital products. The role involves working closely with product, frontend, and engineering teams to translate business needs into reliable technical solutions. You will operate in a modern engineering environment where scalability, security, and observability are critical. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex backend challenges, improving system reliability, and contributing to architecture decisions that shape core platform capabilities. You will also play a key role in ensuring engineering excellence through code quality, automation, and continuous improvement practices.
Accountabilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs using PHP, Go, or other backend languages.
- Contribute to the architecture and evolution of distributed systems and microservices-based platforms.
- Collaborate with product, frontend, and cross-functional teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Ensure system reliability, scalability, security, and performance across backend applications.
- Participate in code reviews, promote best practices, and support knowledge sharing within the engineering team.
- Build and maintain automated tests, CI/CD pipelines, and development workflows.
- Support production systems, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to incident resolution.
- Maintain technical documentation and continuously improve engineering processes and standards.
- Strong experience in backend development for high-availability, high-scale systems.
- Proficiency in backend languages such as PHP, Go, Python, Java, or Node.js.
- Solid experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Hands-on experience with microservices architecture.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis).
- Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including security, performance, and observability.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Intermediate to advanced English proficiency.
- Nice to have: experience with billing systems, subscriptions, payment gateways (e.g., PIX), fraud prevention, and high-scale distributed systems.
