Job Description:
The Senior Business Manager is responsible for a network of 50-60 sites and reports to the Retail & Convenience Senior Manager for New Zealand. The role is accountable for the performance and development of their team of Business Managers, who in turn lead teams of Store Managers within allocated regions. The role holds direct responsibility for safety, people, compliance, commercial and brand performance.
Job Responsibilities
Champion safety and compliance across the network, including responsibility for incident investigations and recommendations at a senior level within the Customer team
Achievement of region-based P&L, ensuring sales margin and EBITDA targets are achieved
Development of Business Managers and Store Managers, ensuring they have the skills, knowledge, and capability to perform their roles effectively
Development of region-based people plan in conjunction with the Senior Manager Retail & Convenience
Development of Operations strategies in support of/to deliver on broader retail strategies
Support the development of regional structures to get the best people and commercial outcomes for the business
Senior Operations leader within the NZ Retail business, providing thought leadership in safety, engagement and commercial delivery
Management and leadership of employment/disciplinary issues for senior site roles when escalated
Operations projects as required
Job Requirements and Qualifications
Strong direct/indirect people leadership capability with a proven track record of achieving results through mentoring and developing teams
Financial literacy; ability to analyse financial statements & performance dashboards, (P&L, KPI’s) to develop and implement operational plans
Presentation and negotiations skills
Proficiency with digital workplace tools such as Microsoft office applications
Senior retail/FMCG operations management experience
Regular travel within New Zealand
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
