Senior CAD Technician – Protection & Control
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings and schematics for control and protection panels (400kV to 11kV) for substations.
- Develop layouts for OHL/UG cable feeders, transformer control, and relay panels.
- Create and update Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), bus bar protection schemes, and equipment details.
- Convert and retrofit existing designs (PDF to DWG), ensuring logic matches for new and existing substations.
- Perform cable sizing, AC/DC load calculations, relay settings, and fault level analysis.
- Ensure high quality and accuracy of all drafted components, suggesting modifications for performance enhancement.
- Facilitate implementation of design changes, process improvements, and pilot new products.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, structural, electrical) and international counterparts.
- Mentor and guide junior team members, sharing best practices and technical expertise.
- Adhere to company and client drafting standards and procedures.
- Conduct periodic quality checks and support project documentation. Develop and enhance processes, tools, and potentially implement new technologies into the design process.
- Periodic Quality check to be conducted for other engineers & designers.
- Exhibit ingenuity, foresight, and wise decision-making skills in proactively identifying and resolving challenges.
- Contribute to the progress and growth of departmental tools and workflows aimed at improving the effectiveness of design processes, specification development, and project implementation.
- Engage in training sessions and meetings dedicated to addressing targeted organizational initiatives.
- Possess a Diploma or Degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
- Have a minimum of four years and a maximum of seven years of experience in the field of Substation Transmission & Distribution, Renewable (Onshore & Offshore wind/ Solar), BESS projects.
- Experience on working in Raster image files.
- Preferably familiar with US projects. Experience of working in a drafting & design role on National Electricity Code and other utility Codes and Standards applicable in the US will be an added advantage.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Script and E-Plan for Engineering design is desirable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

Mandatory Skills
- Substation Protection & Control Design, AutoCAD.
- Hold a Diploma degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
- Have a minimum of eight years and a maximum of twelve years of experience in the field of Substation Transmission & Distribution, Renewable (Onshore & Offshore wind/ Solar), USA projects.
- Thorough knowledge and experience applying National Electricity Code, Technical Specification, Technical Guidance Notes, and Design Handbooks relating to substation protection & control in the US.
- Membership in a relevant professional Engineering Institution, such as IET, CIGRE, IEC, IEEE, is preferred.
- Possess a strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrates diligence, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Highly desirable: Proficiency in AutoCAD Software and E-Plan would be an added advantage.
