Senior Commercial Advisor

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Commercial Advisor to join our team in Brisbane, QLD on a permanent full-time basis.
This role will provide commercial support for the growth of our on-grid power generation assets. In this high-impact role, you will report to the Commercial Manager - Power Commercial and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive commercial outcomes for new gas-powered generation (GPG) assets, including through structuring, negotiation and contract management.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting Commercial Manager and Business Development team with the development of commercial terms, risk allocation and negotiating principles for new projects
Negotiation of new project agreements (e.g. JV agreements, development agreements, offtake agreement) in collaboration with Commercial Manager, Head of Business Development and Business Development Managers
Creating deliverables required to obtain internal project governance approvals (including working with internal and external stakeholders)
Lead the approval process for new or amended commercial agreements, along with undertaking project commercial due diligence
Managing agreements and associated arrangements to ensure APA’s obligations are met and contract value is maximised, whist ensuring an effective handover to operational management team in line with agreed transition milestones
Developing and maintaining a deep understanding of APA’s GPG strategy, preferred commercial structures and risk tolerance, along with monitoring national and international GPG market developments including in relation to regulatory mechanisms and structuring
Your background
Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Law, Engineering or a related field
Experience in a commercial, project development or operations role within the power sector
Excellent commercial negotiation skills and a track record of delivering improved financial or operational outcomes
Great analytical thinking and ability to interpret technical and financial data
Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence across technical and non-technical team
