About the role
We are looking for a Senior Compensation Manager & People Controller who brings strong compensation knowhow together with solid experience in personnel cost and FTE planning. Ideally, you have gained experience in compensation or HR/Finance consulting, or supported compensation structures and workforce cost planning in a scaling or datadriven environment.
Your primary focus will be compensation planning, ownership of compensation structures, and cost modeling, while also leading key processes in personnel expense (PEX) controlling and headcount forecasting. You will help design and configure our PEX & compensation controlling module within our HRIS, enabling transparent, automated, and scalable planning.
You'll join an international People & Culture team spanning Germany and Austria and closely partner with Finance, People Business Partners, and senior leadership to ensure reliable and business-driven compensation and workforce cost decisions.
What you’ll be doing
Compensation Planning & Analysis
- Own the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of compensation and reward frameworks (job architecture & leveling, salary bands, and planning guidelines).
- Conduct compensation analyses and cost simulations for salary reviews, promotions, and organizational changes.
- Prepare and validate compensation data for review cycles and support People Business Partners with insights.
- Ensure compensation decisions align with budget, internal consistency, and established frameworks.
- Ensure all compensation data, reporting, and processes consistently meet applicable compliance requirements, including pay transparency obligations such as the EU Pay Transparency Directive and internal reporting standards.
Personnel Expense (PEX) & FTE Controlling
- Lead the annual personnel expense forecasting and headcount planning processes.
- Monitor variances, identify cost drivers, and provide actionable recommendations.
- Translate hiring plans, turnover, and compensation decisions into accurate financial impacts.
HRIS: PEX & Compensation Controlling Module
- Collaborate with the Senior Project Manager to design and configure the PEX/compensation controlling module.
- Define calculation logic, required data structures, and planning workflows.
- Support testing, rollout, and continuous improvement of the module.
Reporting & Insights
- Design and compose dashboards and reports in Excel and our HRIS to enable effective compensation and workforce planning.
- Deliver clear, business ready insights to senior stakeholders.
Stakeholder Partnership
- Partner closely with People Business Partners, Finance, and business leaders.
- Communicate compensation frameworks, forecasts, and cost impacts clearly and pragmatically.
- Act as a reliable partner combining analytical thoroughness with practical judgment.
What you bring
Experience
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in Compensation, Compensation Consulting, HR Controlling, or Workforce/Financial Planning.
- Experience owning or significantly shaping compensation frameworks, benchmarking, or salary review processes.
- Deep understanding of personnel cost dynamics and budgeting logic.
Skills & Mindset
- Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel and Power Bi proficiency.
- Experience with HRIS planning or reporting modules (e.g., Hibob, SAP SuccessFactors) is a plus.
- Ability to translate data into clear insights and recommendations.
- Organized, detail oriented, and proactive in improving processes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent in English and German.
