Davies North America is looking for someone who will be responsible for managing and resolving moderate to high-severity General Liability claims with a strong emphasis on coverage analysis, investigation, and strategic claim resolution. The position focuses on program-based business including non-trucking liability, habitational risks, and pet care operations (including dog walkers, pet sitters, groomers, and related services).
Many of these programs involve diverse liability exposures requiring a well-rounded understanding of bodily injury, property damage, and premises-based claims. This role requires an experienced claims professional who can independently manage a varied GL caseload while providing clear coverage analysis and driving efficient, defensible outcomes.
Coverage Analysis
  • Review and interpret Commercial General Liability (CGL), non-trucking liability, and related policies, including endorsements.
  • Analyze coverage issues involving bodily injury, property damage, personal and advertising injury, and premises liability.
  • Evaluate exposure across different program types, including off-dispatch vehicle use, habitational premises risks, and pet care-related activities.
  • Draft and issue coverage position letters, including reservations of rights and denials, as appropriate.
Claims Investigation and Strategy
  • Investigate and manage claims involving slip and fall incidents, premises liability, habitational exposures, transportation-related liability, and animal-related incidents (including dog bites and property damage).
  • Coordinate with insureds, claimants, witnesses, experts, and counsel to evaluate liability, causation, and damages.
  • Analyze and document exposures including medical specials, general damages, property damage, and liability risk.
  • Develop and implement claim strategies to achieve timely and cost-effective resolution.
Negotiation and Settlement
  • Evaluate exposure and recommend reserves based on liability and damages analysis.
  • Negotiate settlements within authority, balancing legal exposure, financial considerations, and client objectives.
  • Participate in mediations, settlement discussions, and litigation management as needed.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Documentation
  • Ensure all claims are handled in compliance with Department of Insurance requirements and internal claim handling standards.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of coverage analysis, claim activity, and strategic decisions within the claims management system.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Serve as a key point of contact for clients, insureds, brokers, and defense counsel.
  • Provide clear, concise reporting on claim status, coverage, exposure, and resolution strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and program managers to identify trends and support program performance.

Required:
  • 7–10+ years of experience handling General Liability claims.
  • Active adjuster licenses and willingness to obtain and maintain additional licenses, as needed.
  • Strong experience handling bodily injury and property damage claims, including premises liability.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a variety of claim types across multiple programs.
  • Experience issuing or contributing to coverage positions, including reservations of rights.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to independently manage a full caseload of claims from inception through resolution.
Preferred:
  • Experience handling non-trucking liability, commercial auto-related liability, or transportation exposures.
  • Background in habitational claims, including apartment, rental property, or multi-family risks.
  • Familiarity with pet care or animal-related liability exposures.
  • Experience working within program business or TPA environments.
  • Experience managing litigated claims and working with defense counsel.
