Senior Compliance Associate
In this role, you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of our state lending licenses, oversee critical annual and periodic regulatory reporting, and serve as the lead point of contact for state regulatory examinations. You will coordinate data room preparations, draft examination responses, and work with internal teams to address findings and implement corrective actions.
Responsibilities
- Oversee multi-state mortgage lending and consumer lending license portfolio via the NMLS portal and state portals
- Prepare and submit new corporate branch and individual MLO license applications as the organization expands
- Lead the timely preparation validation and submission of all required state annual reports quarterly Mortgage Call Reports and financial condition filings
- Partner with internal Data Operations and Finance teams to pull audit and reconcile loan production and servicing data for accurate regulatory reporting
- Manage material change notifications to state regulators regarding corporate structure leadership or business activities
- Serve as the primary liaison and Lead Project Manager for all state regulatory examinations
- Coordinate internal data room preparation gather loan files policies procedures and corporate records requested by examiners Pre review materials for quality assurance
- Draft formal responses to examination findings and collaborate with business units to implement corrective action plans through to resolution
Requirements
- 4-6 years of compliance or regulatory experience within a mortgage lender, consumer finance company, or banking institution
- High proficiency with the NMLS portal
- Strong understanding of federal and state lending regulations (TILA/RESPA, ECOA, FCRA, SAFE Act) including open-end credit products
- Proven experience directly participating in or leading state regulatory examinations
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Legal Studies, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Familiarity with digital assets cryptocurrency or blockchain technology
- CRCM or CAMS designation (preferred)
- Ability to manage multiple strict regulatory deadlines with accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with regulators and leadership
- Attention to data discrepancies and proactive approach to identifying compliance gaps
