Senior Customs Expert
Job Summary
We are creating a new organization with the aim to put a well-defined and standardized global Customs &Import operating model in place across all relevant dimensions, from compliance, customer service, operational efficiency to leveraging free-trade agreements and customs costs.
We are now looking for a professional Senior Customs Expert who will perform execution of continuous improvement for all processes associated with import /export and ensure end-to-end daily activities defined into Customs RACI and compliance with country rules and regulations. You will work directly with regional and local teams with operational/tactical customs activities (import and export flow) and provide stakeholders with customs and trade solutions.
The position holder will be main responsible for the Annex 24 & 30 and virtual operations assuring full compliance with laws, norms, Government programs requirements such as AEO, IMMEX, PROSEC and VAT-IMMEX. As well as non-tariff restrictions, Importer registry, Free Trade Agreements and logistics' regulations guarantying the different legal compliance affairs of the international trade operations at Tetra Pak Mexico.
The location for this position is Queretaro, Mexico and this is a permanent position.
Tetra Pak is not sponsoring work visas or relocation for this position.
What you will do
As Senior Customs Expert, you will:
- Manage and assure compliance of Immex and Annex 24.
- Recording import and export transactions
- Registration of destruction certificates/records
- Processing and tracking of customs regime changes of scrap or others
- Validation of part number catalogs and Bills of Materials (BOMs) between ZOE system and SAP
- Inventory reconciliation
- Data comparison and validation against DataStage reports
- Analyze balance and backflush reports
- Drive operational performance of import, export and transit activities
- BEX and support with the system ZOE
- Virtual operations support
- Participate in Audits answers and contact with the authorities to ensure compliance
- Answer queries and provide support to stakeholders engaged in cross-border activities
- Drive Operational interactions with brokers/3rd parties
- Identify potential optimization regarding operating costs and opportunities for reducing customs duty spending
- Ensure end-to-end daily activities defined into Customs roles & responsibilities matrix and compliance with country rules and regulations
- Ensure compliance under the Authorized Economic Operator authorization, Inward processing and Outward processing regimes
- Execution of continuous improvement for all processes
- Continuously monitor relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with partners
- Streamline customs operations processes where possible
- Proactively avoid or mitigate any potential business continuity or economic risk related to Tetra Pak operational structure and its customs transactions
- Ensure the correct Tariff classification of goods imported and exported
- Monitor changes and translate laws & regulations into executable rules, directions and guidelines and integrate them into day-to-day operations, either for Imports, Export, Virtual or any customs transaction or program, registry, or license obligation.
- Identify and address knowledge gaps through training and knowledge sharing.
- Manage Benefits such as IMMEX/CIVA. Annex 24.
- Export compliance.
We believe you have
A bachelor’s degree in international Trade, Economics, Administration, International Business or related fields
At least 5 years of experience from working with Customs and in reconstruction on Annex 24
Fluent in English language is a must
Experience in Customs Software or SAP is a plus
Domain in the office package, mainly Excel
Strong stakeholders’ management skills
Strong collaboration and conflict management skills
An innovative mindset and a drive to find solutions and opportunities
