Senior Data Analyst – ESG – Business Banking

Senior Data Analyst – ESG – Business Banking

Do you want to use your data expertise to help shape the future of sustainable business banking? At ING, we are looking for a senior data professional who can turn complex ESG data into robust, well-governed foundations for smarter decisions, better reporting, and stronger commercial and risk outcomes.

This is a senior role for someone who combines strong analytical skills with hands-on data stewardship experience and strong experience working with data in a regulated environment. ESG data capabilities are still evolving and are currently focused on building a strong data foundation. This role is primarily focused on strengthening ESG data foundations, quality, governance, and usability. Experience in Business Banking is a strong plus.

Role and responsibilities

You will play a visible role in improving data quality, shaping governance, analysing data issues and improvement opportunities, and helping the organisation prioritise the data initiatives that create the most value.

Based in Amsterdam, you will work in a highly collaborative environment with colleagues across Business Lending, Data Management, Risk, Finance, Sustainability, and IT. It is a role with strong visibility, meaningful ownership, and the opportunity to make tangible impact in a fast-evolving area of the bank.

In this role, you will:

  • Take ownership of ESG data stewardship within the Business Banking domain, with a focus on clear definitions, strong governance, and consistent use of critical data elements.
  • Help build dashboards and reporting capabilities in PowerBI, and data processes that support commercial decision-making, risk management, and regulatory reporting, ensuring the underlying data is sufficiently structured, complete, and reliable for business, risk, and regulatory use.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify and improve ESG and Business Banking data flows, analyse root causes and improvement options, and help shape the priorities and recommendations that will make the data landscape more scalable and effective.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across Business Banking, Sustainability, Risk, Finance, and IT to translate business needs into practical data solutions.
  • Strengthen data quality by analysing issues in critical datasets and embedding effective controls and governance standards in day-to-day ways of working.
  • Coach and support junior data analysts, helping to grow capability and raise the quality of analysis and delivery across the team.

The team

You will join a team working at the intersection of sustainability, data, regulation, and commercial banking. It is a fast-moving environment with strong cross-functional collaboration and plenty of scope to make a visible difference. This role will suit someone who enjoys combining analytical depth, practical delivery, and stakeholder engagement to create lasting impact.

How to succeed

You bring:

  • Strong knowledge of ESG data and a solid understanding of how data supports processes, reporting, and decision-making.
  • Hands-on experience with data stewardship and data quality management; familiarity with Business Banking data is a plus.
  • Experience working with data quality and governance frameworks in a regulated environment.
  • At least 7 years of experience working with data, including data analysis, building reports and dashboards in Power BI, reporting, data management, data governance, or a closely related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to bring structure to complex topics and work effectively with incomplete datasets in a low-maturity data environment.
  • A proactive and collaborative working style, with the confidence to work effectively across business and IT.
  • The ability to coach junior colleagues and contribute to building a strong data capability within the team.
  • A master’s degree in a relevant field such as Data, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or Information Management.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Dutch is a strong plus.
  • Residency in the Netherlands.
