Senior Data Scientist I

  • Independently designing analysis plans, and developing underlying data pipelines, models and/or algorithms to solve complex business problems.
  • Create simple, meaningful visualizations to help support data analysis and stakeholder communications
  • Proactively seek out and implement quality and/or efficiency improvements to our existing methodologies and processes, leveraging AI where possible.
  • Develop and share efficient code used for analyses.
  • Incorporate quality checks to proactively detect and correct for errors throughout analysis.
  • Provide clear data-driven recommendations based on research findings that can easily be translated into business requirements.
  • Collaborate with department stakeholders (Product, Operations, Engineering, Data Science, Technology, etc.). This may include providing status updates, developing timelines, sharing data, executing tests, presenting results, supporting user-acceptance testing and monitoring production rollouts to ensure business needs are met.
  • Leading smaller projects, and providing informal guidance to colleagues.

  • Requires conceptual and practical expertise in core domain and general knowledge of related disciplines
  • Impacts a range of customer, operational, project or service activities within own team and other related teams; works within broad guidelines and policies
  • 5-10 years of experience, with a track record of independent work
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science or a related field

Advanced experience in the following areas:

  • Project management including ability to prioritize multiple assignments
  • Manipulating, analyzing and interpreting complex data sources to tell a story from data through analyses
  • Programming in Python, PySpark and SQL for data pipeline development used to support analytics
  • Trending and visualizing data within Tableau or similar BI tools
  • Experience working in cloud-based environments such as AWS
