Senior Database Engineer (Cloud & AI)
1. Core Database Administration (Oracle & PostgreSQL)
- Manage, configure, and maintain high-availability Oracle (19c) and PostgreSQL environments.
- Optimize database performance through advanced indexing, query tuning, and partitioning strategies—critical for high-frequency credit card transaction processing.
- Execute seamless data migrations from on-premise Oracle instances to GCP Cloud SQL or AlloyDB.
- Implement rigorous security protocols, including encryption at rest/transit and fine-grained access control (FGAC) to ensure PCI-DSS compliance.
2. Cloud Infrastructure (GCP)
- Deploy and manage scalable database clusters using GCP Cloud SQL, Spanner, or BigTable.
- Utilize Terraform or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to automate database provisioning and scaling.
- Monitor system health using GCP Cloud Monitoring and Logging, ensuring 99.99% uptime for payment gateways.
3. Generative AI & Innovation
- Collaborate with Data Science teams to implement Vector Search (via pgvector) for similarity searches in fraud detection.
- Develop and maintain LLM-driven automation scripts to convert natural language into optimized SQL queries.
- Explore and implement GenAI tools for automated database documentation, synthetic data generation for testing, and proactive anomaly detection.
Required Technical Profile
- Experience: 4–6 years of hands-on experience in Database Administration or Engineering.
- Legacy Mastery: Deep expertise in Oracle DBA (RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, Performance Tuning).
- Modern Data: Proven experience with PostgreSQL in a production environment.
- Cloud Proficiency: Practical experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP); certifications (Professional Cloud Database Engineer) are a plus.
- GenAI Knowledge: Understanding of Vector Databases, Embeddings, and how to integrate LLMs (like Gemini or GPT) with structured data.
- Scripting: Strong proficiency in Python (for AI/Automation) and Shell scripting.
Soft Skills & Industry Knowledge
- Financial Domain: Understanding of the credit card lifecycle (authorization, clearing, settlement) and security standards like PCI-DSS.
- Problem Solver: Ability to troubleshoot complex performance bottlenecks in a high-concurrency environment.
- Communication: Able to bridge the gap between traditional infrastructure teams and modern AI/Cloud developers.
