Senior Design Engineer

About the Role:

The Vehicle Dynamics Components (VDC) engineering team is responsible for the design, development, and integration of systems that ensure superior ride quality, handling, and safety for our next\-generation electric motorcycle/Scooter platforms.

As a Senior Engineer for Suspension Systems, you will move beyond simple catalogue selection. You will lead the integration, technical evaluation, and geometric packaging of suspension system components. This role balances rigorous first\-principles engineering with end\-to\-end ownership of vendor coordination, physical testing, and manufacturing quality.

· CAD Modelling & Drafting (NX & Teamcenter): Create production\-ready 3D models and detailed 2D engineering drawings for front forks, rear shock absorbers, triple clamps (upper/lower), and handlebar raisers in Siemens NX.

· Component Sizing & Integration: Own the mathematical sizing selection, and packaging of the front forks and rear shock absorbers, establishing optimal damping rates, spring characteristics, and travel constraints.

· Structural Design & DFx: Design high\-strength chassis interfaces like triple clamps etc. utilizing aluminium high\-pressure die casting (HPDC), AL/Steel forgings, and precision machining while applying strict DFM/DFA principles.

· Technical Specifications: Author comprehensive technical requirements, performance targets, and engineering specifications for the entire suspension, steering and handlebar module.

· Concept & Option Evaluation: Lead concept generation and trade\-off studies for front fork geometries (offset, trail) and rear shock layouts based on supplier inputs and vehicle dynamic constraints (anti\-squat, anti\-dive etc.).

· Cross\-Functional SPOC: Act as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) to coordinate technical delivery and packaging boundaries between internal engineering teams and external Tier\-1 suppliers.

· DVP & Test Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive Design Verification Plans (DVP) and structural test setups to validate the forks, shocks, and clamps against extreme real\-world load cases.

· Quality Frameworks: Implement design FMEAs (DFMEA) and adhere to a structured Design Maturity Model to systematically de\-risk component design & development.

· Root Cause Analysis: Troubleshoot and resolve complex assembly line and field failures (e.g., fluid leaks, fork binding, handle vibrations) using structured methods like Pareto charts, Ishikawa, and 5\-Why analysis.

Experience & Qualifications

· Education & Experience: B.Tech/ B.E in Mechanical Engg. with 3 to 7 years of dedicated experience in suspension, steering assembly, and chassis component design.

· Technical Competency: Expert\-level proficiency in Siemens NX and Teamcenter PLM, with a deep first\-principles understanding of front\-end motorcycle geometry, structural casting/forging design, and homologation standards.

· Supplier Management: Proven track record of managing technical partnerships with Tier\-1 suspension and proprietary component manufacturers from initial concept to final production release.

Nice\-to\-Have Competencies

· Vehicle Testing: Practical hands\-on experience in suspension tuning.

· Quality Frameworks: Familiarity with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), PPAP processes, and Six Sigma problem\-solving methodologies for structural casting and forging defects.

· Advanced Kinematics & FEA: Experience using FEA tools (Ansys/Nastran) for stress/fatigue modelling of triple clamps, or Multi\-Body Dynamics (MBD) to simulate suspension kinematics.
