JOB TITLE: Senior DevOps Engineer
SALARY: £72,702 - £80,000
LOCATION(S): Manchester
HOURS: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in the above office location
About this opportunity
What you’ll be doing
- Design and improve CI/CD pipelines and release automation to support reliable delivery
- Promote automation-first ways of working to reduce manual effort and increase consistency
- Develop and share reusable Kubernetes and platform patterns
- Help define secure, repeatable cloud provisioning approaches aligned to central standards
- Work closely with feature teams, offering hands-on support, coaching and guidance
- Contribute to improving engineering standards through collaboration, reviews and shared learning
What you’ll need
- Experience designing and running CI/CD pipelines across different environments
- A passion for automation, with scripting skills (e.g. Python or Bash)
- Experience working with Kubernetes and Helm, and an awareness of service mesh concepts (such as Istio)
- Experience working with cloud platforms, using a pragmatic, engineering-led approach
- Working knowledge of infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform)
- Experience with observability or monitoring tools (e.g. Dynatrace, Prometheus, Splunk or similar)
- A collaborative mindset, with a focus on quality, ownership and continuous improvement
It would be helpful if you also have experience in
- Application development or testing environments (e.g. Java, Node.js, React, automated testing)
- Code quality, security scanning or vulnerability management
- Secrets or certificate management tools (e.g. HashiCorp Vault)
- Cloud cost optimisation (FinOps)
- Data, messaging or streaming technologies (e.g. PostgreSQL, Oracle, Kafka)
