Role Overview

The DevOps Engineer will leverage leading AI models to design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and reliable cloud infrastructure. They will collaborate with various teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of applications, manage CI/CD pipelines, and maintain detailed documentation. The role also involves monitoring system performance, ensuring security best practices, and contributing to an agile mindset within the team. Additionally, the engineer will leverage AI-assisted development tools and workflows to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, and contribute to the team's evolving AI-driven development lifecycle (AIDLC).

Role Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and reliable cloud infrastructure using AWS services.

  • Own the technical design of infrastructure components - produce architecture decision records (ADRs) and present trade-offs to stakeholders.

  • Use AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Kiro, Copilot, or similar) to accelerate infrastructure development, code review, and troubleshooting.

  • Collaborate with software engineers, QA engineers, and Project Managers to ensure seamless integration and deployment of applications.

  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to streamline the software development lifecycle and ensure rapid, reliable releases.

  • Setup observability to monitor system performance, availability/issues, and implement solutions to address the findings.

  • Ensure security best practices are followed and implement necessary measures to protect cloud infrastructure and applications.

  • Adhere to TP ICAP Cloud standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to an agile mindset within the team.

  • Maintain detailed documentation of infrastructure, processes, and configurations.

  • Assist in upskilling other team members of the team.

  • Author and maintain AI agent steering files, skills, and prompts that encode team standards and automate repetitive DevOps workflows.

  • Validate AI-generated code against the same quality gates as human-written code (SAST, SCA, secret scanning, peer review) — no exceptions for AI output.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of AI-driven workflows, identifying opportunities where agents or automation can reduce toil.

Experience / Competences

  • 7+ years of hands-on DevOps/Platform Engineering experience, with at least 2 years focused on AWS or equivalent cloud platforms.

  • Proven experience as a Senior DevOps Engineer, preferably in the finance sector.

  • Strong understanding of AWS services and hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), particularly using AWS CDK.

  • Proficiency in Python for infrastructure automation and AWS CDK development.

  • Experience with CI/CD tools and relevant programming frameworks (e.g., GitLab CI/CD, Python or equivalent).

  • Fluent in containerisation and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Experience with Helm Charts for managing Kubernetes clusters (EKS).

  • Experience with OpenTelemetry and the LGTM stack of observability tools.

  • Experience working in agile environments and a strong agile mindset.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure without being distracted by complexity.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively.

  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.

  • Passion for automation and a commitment to maintaining high standards of infrastructure management.

  • Comfortable working with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., AI code assistants, LLM-based agents) and willing to learn prompt engineering techniques to improve their effectiveness.

  • Awareness of responsible AI usage in enterprise environments — understanding that AI output requires human review, must not be trusted with secrets or PII, and must pass through standard security gates.

Skills

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Proficiency in AWS services and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CDK.

  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools.

  • Experience with containerisation and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and backlog management tools (e.g., JIRA).

  • Ability to write clear and concise documentation.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.

  • Willingness to adopt AI-assisted workflows and contribute to their refinement — including writing structured prompts, reviewing AI-generated infrastructure code, and encoding team knowledge into reusable automation (steering files, agent skills, hooks).
