The Senior Director, Growth and Marketing provides senior-level leadership for Marketing General Incorporated’s (MGI) growth, market positioning, and revenue development efforts. This role is responsible for leading integrated marketing, business development, and communications strategies that drive brand awareness, demand generation, client engagement, and revenue growth.

In addition to maintaining and growing an assigned book of business, the Senior Director leads MGI’s internal marketing strategy—ensuring clear, consistent, and differentiated positioning of the firm’s services, capabilities, and value proposition. The role partners closely with executive leadership, sales, and account teams to identify new opportunities, expand services, and strengthen MGI’s presence and impact in the market.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Growth Strategy, Revenue & Business Development

  • Lead the strategic development and execution of integrated growth and marketing plans aligned with MGI’s business and revenue objectives.
  • Maintain, retain and grow an assigned book of business, serving as a senior relationship lead and strategic advisor to clients.
  • Align marketing initiatives with sales objectives to support pipeline development, conversion, and overall business performance.
  • Collaborate with Sales leadership on new business efforts, including opportunity identification, sales discussions, and proposal support.
  • Identify and drive market expansion opportunities, including new client segments, service offerings, and strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and sell new, revenue-producing programs and services, either directly or in collaboration with internal teams.

Firm Marketing & Market Positioning (MGI)

  • Lead MGI’s internal marketing strategy, including brand positioning, messaging, thought leadership, and go-to-market storytelling.
  • Drive awareness and understanding of MGI’s services, capabilities, and value proposition in the marketplace.
  • Ensure consistency and clarity across firm-level marketing efforts, external communications, and growth initiatives.
  • Partner with executive leadership and Sales to ensure marketing efforts directly support growth priorities and business development goals.
  • Champion innovative, forward-thinking approaches that strengthen MGI’s differentiation and market presence.

Client Relationship Management & Experience

  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with clients, partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the client experience by simplifying engagement and enhancing the value of interactions.
  • Connect opportunities, people, and ideas to foster collaboration and long-term client growth.

Market Messaging, Storytelling & Communications

  • Craft and amplify compelling, solutions-focused stories that highlight client success, innovation, and organizational impact.
  • Translate complex services and strategies into clear, differentiated messaging that resonates with prospects, clients, and members.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of marketing and communications initiatives and recommend improvements to optimize performance.

Membership Growth & Engagement (as applicable)

  • Lead membership growth strategies by developing innovative approaches to attract, engage, and retain members.
  • Leverage an understanding of member needs to deliver meaningful value and long-term connection.

Leadership, Collaboration & Team Development

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align marketing, sales, and client experience efforts around shared growth objectives.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to assigned staff and contributors, ensuring effective prioritization, quality, and performance.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop team members, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and FUN.

Performance Measurement & Strategic Insight

  • Leverage data, analytics, and insights to evaluate performance and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities for growth and recommend actionable, results-oriented strategies to drive progress.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in marketing, business development, growth strategy, or client services, preferably within an agency, association, or professional services environment.
  • Demonstrated success driving revenue growth and managing senior-level client relationships.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and influence at the executive level.
  • Willingness to travel locally and out-of-town as necessary.
