The Senior Director, Individual & Family Business (IFB) is responsible for the overall strategy, product development, and performance of Medica’s IFB portfolio. This role oversees the IFB P&L, driving growth, profitability, and operational excellence, and ensures the health and competitiveness of the IFB product suite. The Senior Director leads a cross-functional team to deliver on business objectives, collaborating closely with Product, Marketing, Network, Operations, Finance, and other key stakeholders. This position reports to the VP, Employer & Individual, who holds full P&L accountability for the combined Employer & Individual portfolio. Performs other duties as assigned.
Key Accountabilities
- Product Strategy & Development
- Lead the development, execution, and continuous improvement of IFB product strategy, ensuring alignment with market trends, regulatory requirements, and Medica’s growth objectives.
- P&L Management
- Oversee the IFB P&L, including membership, revenue, margin, and cost management.
- Partner with Finance and Actuarial to monitor performance, identify risks/opportunities, and drive interventions as needed.
- Cross-Functional Leadership
- Sets clear expectations, provides ongoing coaching and feedback, and supports employees’ professional growth.
- Ensures compliance with company policies, employment laws, and HR programs
- Promotes engagement, collaboration, and accountability while aligning team outcomes with organizational goals.
- Provides strategic leadership and people direction by setting vision, developing talent, and ensuring organizational effectiveness, compliance, and alignment with enterprise priorities.
- Foster collaboration across Product, Marketing, Network, Operations, Compliance, and other functions to achieve IFB goals.
- Market & Competitive Analysis
- Monitor the competitive landscape, recommend product and pricing changes, and ensure Medica’s IFB offerings remain differentiated and sustainable.
- Regulatory & Compliance Oversight
- Ensure IFB products and processes comply with all applicable regulations and internal policies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related field
- 10+ years of work experience beyond degree
- 3+ years of people management and leadership experience
- 3+ years of individual product knowledge and experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Financial acumen for P&L responsibility
- ICHRA experience
This position is an Office role, which requires an employee to work onsite, on average, 3 days per week. We are open to candidates located near one of the following office locations: Minnetonka, MN, Madison, WI, St. Louis, MO, or Omaha, NE.
The full salary grade for this position is $150,000 - $257,200. While the full salary grade is provided, the typical hiring salary range for this role is expected to be between $150,000 - $225,015. Annual salary range placement will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, applicable certifications and/or licensure, the position's scope and responsibility, internal pay equity and external market salary data. In addition to base compensation, this position may be eligible for incentive plan compensation in addition to base salary.
