Senior Distributed Systems Engineer

You will design, implement, and maintain consensus protocols and distributed system architectures. You will analyze and improve system performance, latency, and throughput, debug complex multi-node issues, implement Byzantine fault-tolerant solutions, build monitoring and observability, and produce technical documentation. You will also conduct performance profiling and mentor colleagues on distributed systems practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement consensus protocols
  • Develop and optimize distributed system architectures for scalability reliability and fault tolerance
  • Analyze and improve system performance latency and throughput
  • Debug complex distributed system issues across multiple nodes and networks
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for distributed systems and protocols
  • Implement Byzantine fault-tolerant solutions in collaboration with team members
  • Conduct performance analysis profiling and optimization
  • Implement and maintain monitoring and observability solutions
  • Mentor team members in distributed systems concepts

Requirements

  • Proven track record in distributed system or consensus engineering (Master/PhD or 3+ years industry experience)
  • Strong background in consensus algorithms such as Paxos Raft and PBFT
  • Expertise in concurrent and parallel programming
  • Proficiency in systems programming languages Go Rust or C++
  • Deep understanding of distributed computing concepts including CAP theorem and consistency models
  • Experience with network programming and distributed system testing
  • Strong knowledge of performance optimization and bottleneck analysis
  • Experience implementing Byzantine fault-tolerant systems (preferred)
  • Knowledge of modern consensus protocols such as HotStuff Tendermint Narwhal and Bullshark (preferred)
  • Familiarity with formal verification methods for distributed systems (preferred)
  • Experience with large-scale distributed databases and peer-to-peer networking protocols (preferred)
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS GCP or Azure (preferred)
