Senior Electronic Engineer

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Electronic Engineer to join our Design Engineering team as the electronic technical lead for micro circuit modules used in high-reliability oil and gas, aerospace, and defence applications.

This role is focused on the architecture, design, development, and validation of new electronic module designs, with strong ownership from early requirements capture through to design release and production readiness. You will play a key role in shaping product architecture, defining technical requirements, making critical design decisions, and ensuring that electronic solutions meet demanding performance, reliability, manufacturability, and environmental requirements.

The role is well suited to an engineer with strong analogue, mixed-signal, power, sensing, or signal-conditioning design experience who is comfortable leading technical activities in a multidisciplinary environment.

Experience with hybrid microelectronics, chip-and-wire, chip-and-bond wire, die attach, or wire bonding is highly desirable. Support and training will be provided to develop capability in these areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the electronic design lead for new micro circuit module developments, taking ownership of the electronic architecture, circuit design approach, and key technical decisions.
  • Lead requirements capture and definition for electronic modules, working closely with customers, project teams, manufacturing, and quality functions to translate application needs into clear, verifiable design requirements.
  • Develop new electronic circuit designs for high-reliability applications, including analogue, mixed-signal, power, control, sensing, or signal-conditioning circuits as required by the product architecture.
  • Influence product architecture at an early stage, ensuring designs are robust, manufacturable, testable, and suitable for harsh operating environments.
  • Take ownership of schematic capture, circuit simulation, design analysis, component selection, design verification, and validation planning.
  • Define and review electronic schematics, layouts, module-level interconnects, hybrid assembly drawings, and design documentation.
  • Work closely with mechanical, process, manufacturing, and test engineering teams to ensure designs are suitable for micro circuit module assembly, production test, and long-term reliability.
  • Select and evaluate components, materials, and technologies suitable for high-reliability oil and gas, aerospace, and defence applications.
  • Lead technical design reviews, requirements reviews, verification reviews, and design sign-off activities.
  • Support design for manufacturability, design for test, and design for reliability activities throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Provide technical leadership during prototype build, design validation, qualification, and transition into production.
  • Support root cause analysis and technical investigations where required, particularly where learning can be applied to new product design robustness.
  • Contribute to engineering best practice, design standards, and continuous improvement across electronic design and micro circuit module development.
  • Provide mentoring and technical guidance to other engineers within the design team.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in electronic circuit design within high-reliability, regulated, safety-critical, harsh-environment, or high-performance applications.
  • Strong background in analogue, mixed-signal, RF, power, sensing, or signal-conditioning circuit design.
  • Experience leading electronic design activities from concept or requirements definition through to validation and release.
  • Strong ability to capture, interpret, and refine technical requirements and translate them into robust electronic design solutions.
  • Good understanding of electronic component selection, derating, reliability considerations, and lifecycle risks.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams, including close collaboration with manufacturing, test, quality, mechanical, and project functions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate design issues and make evidence-based technical decisions.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with hybrid microelectronics, micro circuit modules, advanced packaging, chip-and-wire, chip-and-bond wire, die attach, or wire bonding.
  • Experience with RF, microwave, high-frequency, precision analogue, or harsh-environment electronics.
  • Experience designing electronics for oil and gas, aerospace, defence, space, automotive, medical, or other high-reliability sectors.
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturability, design for test, and design for reliability principles.
  • Experience with qualification, environmental testing, or reliability testing for demanding applications.
  • Knowledge of relevant IPC, aerospace, defence, or high-reliability electronics standards.

Other Requirements

  • You must be eligible for full security clearance.
  • Occasional travel may be required for supplier or customer engagement.
