Senior Engineer, Storage Control Plane
What You'll Do:
The Storage Engineering team builds, scales, and operates CoreWeave's high-performance AI storage platform. We design reliable, high-throughput storage systems engineered natively for hyperscale cloud environments, providing the storage backbone that powers some of the largest and most innovative AI workloads in the world.
About the role:
As a Senior Storage Engineer for the Control Plane, you will play a key role in designing, building, and operating the multi-tenant control plane for our high-performance AI storage platform. You will contribute directly to the development of exabyte-scale, S3-compatible object storage and distributed file systems, integrating dedicated clusters into diverse customer environments. This role requires partnering cross-functionally across infrastructure, compute, and platform teams to implement automated storage capabilities. You will work closely with hardware-adjacent technologies—including RDMA, GPU Direct Storage, RoCE, InfiniBand, and SPDK—to optimize tail latency and durability, while mentoring other engineers on best practices for high-performance distributed systems.
Who You Are:
- 6–10 years of experience working in storage systems engineering or infrastructure operations.
- Strong hands-on experience with object storage or distributed file systems in production environments.
- Deep experience with one or more storage protocols (e.g., S3, NFS) and distributed architectures like Ceph, DAOS, or similar.
- Proficiency in a systems programming language such as Go, C, or Rust.
- Solid understanding of cloud-native infrastructure, Kubernetes, and scalable system architecture.
- Familiarity with storage observability tools, telemetry pipelines, and open-source data stacks (e.g., ClickHouse, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in distributed, high-performance environments under pressure.
- Clear communicator, able to work collaboratively across global teams and share technical insights effectively.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Wondering if you're a good fit?
We believe in investing in our people, and value candidates who can bring their own diversified experiences to our teams even if you aren't a 100% skill or experience match. Here are a few qualities we've found compatible with our team. If some of this describes you, we'd love to talk.
- You love to build clarity out of complex architectural problems and champion robust, automated multi-tenant control planes from concept to production.
- You're curious about pioneering low-latency storage optimizations and pushing the boundaries of exabyte-scale distributed data platforms.
- You're an expert in high-performance systems engineering, optimizing cloud-native storage protocols, and mentoring peers on technical best practices.
