Senior Engineering Manager

This Senior Engineering Manager role is a high-impact leadership position responsible for shaping and scaling multiple engineering teams within a fast-growing global technology organization.
You will lead Engineering Managers and, through them, drive the performance, growth, and delivery of several engineering squads working on large-scale consumer products.
The role requires strong strategic thinking, organizational design expertise, and the ability to align engineering execution with long-term product and business goals.
You will work closely with product, design, and senior leadership to define multi-quarter roadmaps and ensure delivery excellence across teams.
A key focus will be on building strong engineering culture, developing leadership talent, and driving operational health across the organization.
You will also influence cross-functional decisions and represent engineering in senior global forums.
This role is ideal for experienced leaders who thrive in scaling complex engineering organizations and mentoring other leaders.
Accountabilities:
- Lead, coach, and develop Engineering Managers, ensuring strong people leadership practices including hiring, performance management, and continuous feedback.
- Design and evolve organizational structure across multiple teams, including team topology, role clarity, and scalable operating models.
- Define and drive multi-quarter engineering strategy in partnership with Product, Design, and cross-functional leadership.
- Build and strengthen a leadership pipeline by identifying and developing future Engineering Managers and technical leaders.
- Ensure delivery excellence, operational health, and engineering quality across teams, including SLOs, incident management, and technical debt reduction.
- Oversee resource allocation, budgeting, and headcount planning for the engineering organization.
- Represent engineering in senior leadership forums and align stakeholders across global functions.
- Identify and resolve systemic organizational challenges spanning multiple teams, including process, communication, and cultural improvements.
- Sponsor and drive org-wide initiatives that improve technical capability, collaboration, and engineering excellence.
- 15+ years of experience in software engineering and engineering leadership roles.
- At least 4+ years of experience managing Engineering Managers or equivalent leadership layers.
- Proven experience scaling engineering organizations with 20+ engineers across multiple teams.
- Strong track record of defining and executing multi-team, multi-quarter engineering strategies.
- Experience working closely with senior stakeholders across Product, Design, and executive leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to hire, mentor, and develop engineering leaders at scale.
- Experience delivering and operating large-scale, high-traffic consumer products.
- Strong understanding of system design, distributed systems, and modern engineering practices (microservices, cloud platforms, etc.).
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organizational leadership skills.
- Experience in global or distributed engineering environments is highly desirable.
