Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Senior Environmental Regulatory Manager – Mining to lead regulatory strategy and client advisory support for complex legacy mining environmental remediation and reclamation projects.

This role will play a key part in shaping regulatory engagement, managing risk, and supporting long-term site closure and reclamation strategies. The position offers a blend of technical leadership, client-facing work, and contribution to business growth.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Serve as a regulatory lead for environmental remediation and reclamation projects at legacy mine sites

Advise clients on permitting, compliance strategy, and regulatory risk

Lead regulatory reviews, audits, corrective action programs, and closure planning

Interface directly with regulatory agencies at the state and federal level

Monitor regulatory trends and support proactive client strategy

Support proposals, client development, and strategic growth initiatives

Mentor and support development of technical staff

Regulatory experience

Experience in the following areas is preferred:

  • State-level environmental and mining regulations (New Mexico experience preferred, or similar Southwest U.S. experience)
  • Federal regulatory frameworks such as CERCLA, RCRA, and Clean Water Act
  • Mining-related permitting and reclamation (including SMCRA or similar programs)
  • Coordination with agencies such as NMED, EPA, BLM, or comparable regulatory bodies

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, or related field
  • 12+ years of regulatory experience related to legacy or active mine sites
  • Experience supporting remediation, reclamation, and enforcement negotiations
  • Strong understanding of permitting, compliance, and regulatory strategy

• Excellent technical writing and executive communication skills
• Willingness to travel

Holiday Pay - Holiday pay is provided for eligible employees. GHD observes 9 holidays per year. Holiday pay will be based on the regular set schedule for the employee

Wellness Benefit- Regular full-term employees are eligible to participate in the wellness reimbursement program. Salary Range: $94,050 – $117,563.00 based on experience and location.
