Senior Finance Data & Systems Analyst
The Financial Systems and Control Crew is a PACE crew consisting of three Squads. We work in close partnership with Technology and Business teams to prioritise and deliver better outcomes sooner and more safely for our customers.
Sub-Ledger Squad
Our Squad purpose is to:
Integrate, manage and control source data flowing into the Sub-Ledger and General Ledger.
Be a trusted partner to Business and Technology by delivering traceable, reconciled and trusted data in the right format, at the right time, to the right people.
Provide financial control over data, processes and system outcomes.
Perform and uplift daily system control processes.
Analyse end-to-end data flows across source systems, Sub-Ledger and General Ledger to support accurate accounting, effective mapping and robust control outcomes.
The role reports to the Sub-Ledger and Platforms Chapter Lead and works closely with the Product Owner of the Sub-Ledger Squad.
The purpose of the role is to provide senior-level support and ownership across the monitoring, control and enhancement of the Sub-Ledger for accounting and finance system functions. The role is responsible for understanding complex source data flows, identifying how data should be interpreted and mapped within the Sub-Ledger, supporting change delivery, resolving system and data issues, and working with upstream and downstream integration partners to deliver stable, controlled and scalable outcomes.

In this role, you will:
Lead and manage operational processes across the Finance Systems portfolio, including the accounting Sub-Ledger and integrations with upstream and downstream applications.
Perform end-to-end analysis of complex data flows across source systems, Sub-Ledger and General Ledger to support accurate financial processing and reporting outcomes.
Analyse large and complex data sets to identify trends, exceptions, mapping issues, control gaps and opportunities for process improvement.
Translate business context, accounting requirements and system behaviour into practical data mapping and control outcomes within the Sub-Ledger.
Ensure the smooth daily operation of the Sub-Ledger from a systems accountant and finance control perspective.
Monitor controls and resolve issues arising from source data processing through the Sub-Ledger to the Bank’s General Ledger.
Partner with Technology, Finance and Business stakeholders to assess data impacts, define requirements and support change delivery.
Work on complex integrations and enhancements to the Sub-Ledger, including source-to-target mapping, data validation, testing and issue resolution.
Identify system, data and control gaps, and develop clear action plans to remediate them.
Deliver strategic and BAU Finance system enhancements across the division.
Support sustainable system management capability that reduces reliance on large-scale remediation and upgrade activity.
Take a portfolio view across initiatives, identifying synergies, dependencies, risks and control impacts.
Coordinate with support partners, including Service Management, OMNIA and RTF, to deliver ongoing maintenance releases for Finance Systems and Controls.
Contribute to automated testing capability to improve release quality and speed.
Drive productivity, process improvement, collaboration and knowledge sharing across the team.
Contribute to a high-performance culture and deliver excellent service to internal customers and stakeholders.
Assess dependencies and effectively manage associated risk, control and compliance implications of requirements and solutions.

Strong experience working with large, complex finance systems, including general ledger, sub-ledger, reconciliation or financial control platforms.
Experience analysing large volumes of data and interpreting data outcomes in a finance, accounting or systems context.
The ability to translate complex business requirements, accounting logic and data behaviour into practical system, mapping and control solutions.
Business analysis experience across data flows between large and complex systems.
Experience with source-to-target mapping, data lineage, data validation, reconciliations or system integration processes.
Strong financial services industry experience.
Experience working across Business, Technology and Finance teams in a large organisation.
Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence, challenge and negotiate across multiple business units.
Project, change or delivery experience in a complex corporate environment.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail.
SQL experience, or strong practical experience interrogating and analysing system data.
Process improvement experience, including identifying control gaps and designing practical improvements.
The confidence to take initiative, self-solve and engage the right stakeholders to resolve complex problems.
The ability to work in a rapidly changing environment and deliver to agile timelines.
Relevant business, finance, accounting, data or technology tertiary qualifications.
Desirable
Recognised industry certifications or accreditations in project management, business analysis, data analysis, agile delivery or related disciplines.
Experience with finance transformation, ledger modernisation, data migration, system implementation or large-scale integration programs.
Experience supporting automated testing, control automation or data quality uplift initiatives.
