Senior GL Specialist
As a Senior GL Specialist, you will play a key role in managing and developing accounting processes for Atotech, an MKS brand and a leading global manufacturing company. You will take ownership of end-to-end general ledger accounting activities, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and continuous process improvement across the organization.
Working closely with local and international finance teams, you will support statutory and group reporting requirements while driving the harmonization and standardization of accounting processes. This role offers significant visibility, ownership, and long-term career growth, including the opportunity to gradually take responsibility for additional countries and expand your scope within the EMEA finance organization.
You will report directly to the Accounting Manager Europe.
You Will Make an Impact By:
- Managing and posting general ledger transactions and month-end close activities within Oracle
- Supporting Group Accounting with the evaluation and resolution of accounting matters
- Ensure that the monthly controls (SOX) are implemented and that control processes are continuously improved
- Preparation of the local monthly VAT declaration for Germany
- Monitoring existing accounting processes and ensuring their consistent and accurate execution across the organization
- Creating and maintaining desktop procedures for critical accounting processes and ensuring their effective adoption by the GL team
- Together with the Accounting Manager Europe, preparing annual statutory financial statements under German GAAP (HGB) and acting as a key contact for external auditors during the audit process.
Skills You Bring:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field; alternatively, completed commercial training with a focus on accounting
- At least 5 years' experience as a GL-Accountant - At least 5 years of experience in General Ledger Accounting within an international business environment
- Solid experience with Oracle ERP
- Good MS Office skills, particularly Excel
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and functions
- Hands-on, proactive, and able to take ownership of tasks and processes
- Professional proficiency in English.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of US GAAP and group reporting requirements
- Experience preparing statutory financial statements under HGB
- Experience with SAP
- German language skills
