About the role

This role is for an experienced government relations professional who understands the Australian political environment and can translate complex policy, regulatory and stakeholder issues into clear strategy and practical outcomes.

Working with leaders across the business, you will help build trusted relationships, anticipate emerging issues and support engagement related to The Lottery Corporation’s operations across key jurisdictions.

The Senior Government Relations Manager supports the Head of Government Relations and the broader Strategy team in implementing the Group’s national government relations strategy and will be responsible for developing and executing the strategies in at least two Australian jurisdictions.

What you’ll do

  • Deliver the government relations strategy: Lead execution of the Government Relations Strategy across key jurisdictions, including proactive policy, regulatory and game change initiatives.

  • Build key relationships: Establish trusted relationships with political decision-makers, senior staff and industry partners.

  • Lead engagement and advocacy: Manage stakeholder engagement with government, opposition, MPs, senior advisers and industry stakeholders on policy matters including the drafting of briefings and leading meetings and interactions with governments.

  • Drive policy insight and response: Monitor, analyse and respond to policy and legislative developments, including the coordination and drafting of submissions, position papers and enterprise-wide responses.

  • Enable alignment and delivery: Partner with internal teams to execute priorities, and drive priority outcomes.

What you’ll bring

  • Undergraduate qualifications (or relevant experience) in either public policy, politics, economics or relevant fields.

  • 7+ years’ work experience in a political public policy-related role.

  • Experience in political campaigns and event management preferred.

  • A demonstrable expertise in government and Australian politics.
