Senior Interior Designer - Workplace

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Interior Design or Architecture (if applicable)
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in relevant areas (e.g., commercial interior design, hospitality design, etc.), with a proven track record of successfully delivering projects
  • Relevant leadership/management experience preferred


Responsibilities

1) Project Startup and Planning

    • Lead the project team in understanding project requirements, client briefs, and design goals
    • Conduct and oversee client background and project context research
    • Define key project stakeholders and their roles

2) Design and Documentation

      • Lead the development of interior design concepts, including space plans, elevations, sections, and details, using BIM software (e.g., Revit)
      • Prepare and deliver design presentations using approved software (e.g., Google Slides, DTP ( Desktop Publishing) , Adobe Creative Suite) to communicate design ideas to clients and stakeholders
      • Research, select, and approve materials, finishes, furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), considering sustainability, performance, and budget

3) Project Coordination and Management

    • Coordinate with other disciplines (architecture, MEP, structural) to ensure integrated design solutions
    • Develop and track project budgets, in collaboration with project managers. Delegate budget tracking tasks as appropriate
    • Lead project meetings and document key decisions and action items
    • Review shop drawings, material submittals, and RFIs, providing timely and accurate feedback
    • Oversee construction progress and ensure compliance with design intent and specifications

4) Communication and Collaboration

    • Communicate effectively with the project team, clients, and consultants
    • Present design ideas clearly and persuasively, and effectively address client feedback
    • Provide regular project updates and reports to the Design Director and clients
    • Contribute project information and updates to update CRM

5) Administration and Professional Development

    • Lead internal team meetings and contribute to discussions on project progress and design issues
    • Maintain accurate time records using the company's time tracking system and ensure team compliance
    • Actively participate in continuing professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge, and encourage team participation

6) Quality Management

    • Ensure the team's adherence to the company's quality management system and design standards
    • Proactively identify and address potential design and documentation issues, providing solutions and guidance to the team
    • Conduct quality control reviews of drawings and specifications, and provide mentoring to junior staff

7) Technology & AI Integration

    • Explore and utilize approved AI tools (including LLMs and Generative AI) to
      • Generate design options and variations
      • Automate repetitive tasks (e.g., drafting, scheduling)
      • Assist with research and information gathering
      • Enhance communication and content creation
    • Provide guidance and training to the team on the effective use of AI tools
    • Report to the Design Director for implementing AI on projects
