Senior IT Auditor
Overview
Primary Responsibilities
- Gather and analyze extensive data and interview bank personnel in order to understand the control environment and processes being audited.
- Provide key input in preparation of IT risk assessments
- Design IT audit and related operational audit programs and testing strategies to execute audits to achieve desired audit objectives.
- Prepare audit workpapers, spreadsheets, narrative and visual summaries of banking areas in conjunction with risk assessments and audits.
- Evaluate and make recommendations to management to strengthen the control environment, promote compliance with bank and regulatory policies and procedures, improve the efficiency of operations, and the accuracy of financial information.
- Complete audit fieldwork, workpapers, audit findings, and reports to management and Audit Committees in accordance with professional internal audit standards.
- Present audit findings and recommendations to department and/or division management.
- Assist the external auditors, regulators, and other examiners during their routine examinations of the Bank, as assigned.
- Assist the Director of Internal Audit in the preparation of the Annual Audit Plan.
- Update and develop audit programs, as assigned, adapting the audit approach as the circumstances warrant.
- Recommend methods to improve audit techniques, emphasizing efficient and creative use of audit resources and tools.
- Obtain and maintain professional certification and expertise through attendance at meetings of professional organizations, conferences, seminars, etc.
- Maintain knowledge of customer, industry, and other best practices and apply this knowledge to audit projects.
- Maintain and assess ongoing monitoring mechanisms for audit subjects throughout the audit cycle, as assigned.
- Perform compliance and risk management duties as required or assigned.
- Regular, reliable attendance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in internal audit.
- Experience performing internal audits, operational audits, financial audits, compliance audits, regulatory reviews, or similar risk/control work.
- Banking, financial services, public accounting, regulatory examination, or risk management experience preferred.
- Professional certification preferred, such as CIA, CPA, CRCM, CFSA, CBA, CRP, CISA, or similar.
- Strong understanding of internal controls, audit methodology, risk assessment, audit standards, GAAP, and regulatory compliance concepts.
- Ability to perform audit work independently while knowing when to escalate risks, concerns, or judgmental matters.
- Ability to serve as auditor-in-charge on assigned audits or audit segments, depending on scope, complexity, and team structure.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to evaluate processes, identify control gaps, interpret data, and develop practical conclusions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear audit findings and communicate with management professionally.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain high-quality documentation.
- High degree of professionalism, discretion, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products; experience with audit software, data analytics, banking systems, or GRC tools is a plus.

Plans and conducts IT risk assessments and internal audits of relevant banking areas.

Prepares written reports to management and the Audit Committees communicating the results of audit projects.

Able to work at a high level of productivity and efficiency, without close supervision.
- Manages IT Auditable Entities in accordance with audit policy and procedures.
- Acts as auditor-in-charge on complex IT audit projects, including supervising staff, workpaper review, and monitoring progress. Apprises higher-level audit personnel and management of the status of audit projects and progress toward completion.
- Assists management, as requested, in improving their internal control practices for new and existing environments.
- Assists in providing selected training to internal audit personnel and bank staff.
- Works closely with line management and staff to document and communicate findings.
Compensation:
Senior Auditor - $89,158 - $133,794
The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position located in Spokane, WA. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. This position is eligible to participate in an applicable incentive plan.
