Job Description Summary:

The Senior Laboratory Coordinator will develop, validate, and apply UHPLC-MS/MS-based assays for quantitation of drugs, drug metabolites, and other small molecules in research samples collected from patients in clinical trials. In addition, maintain records for sample tracking in the lab and perform calibrations and minor maintenance on instruments and equipment.

Job Description:

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, validate, and apply UHPLC-MS/MS-based assays for quantitation of drugs, drug metabolites, and other small molecules in research samples collected from patients in clinical trials.

  • Maintain records for sample tracking in the lab and perform calibrations and minor maintenance on instruments and equipment.

  • Utilize proven proficiency in basic laboratory skills — calibration and use of balances, pipettors, centrifuges, sample evaporators.

  • Perform, interpret, and report results from quantitative analytical methods.

  • Collaborate with Cancer Center laboratory and clinical research staff to ensure transfer and processing of samples and communication of results in a timely manner.

  • Ensure all requirements for sample integrity have been met (positive identification of patient, visit, and time; traceable records from sample transfer through final data delivery, etc.).

  • Recognize sources of error in sample identification, processing, or analysis and initiates corrective action when indicated. Assures the appropriate personnel have been contacted and the incident documented according to SOP’s.

  • Maintain records for sample tracking in the lab and performs calibrations and minor maintenance on instruments and equipment.

  • Participate in quality assurance/quality improvement activities related to sample transfer and storage, sample processing, sample analysis, and data integrity and reporting.

  • This role will be 100% onsite.

Required Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • Four (4) years of relevant work experience. Education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Experience with basic laboratory skills -calibration and use of balances, pipettors, centrifuges, sample evaporators.

  • Experience performing, interpreting, and reporting results from quantitative analytical methods.

Preferred Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • Experience with mass spectrometry.

  • Experience with sample preparation techniques (protein precipitation, solid phase extraction, liquid-liquid extraction).

  • Experience with quantitative UHPLC-MS/MS procedures.

  • Experience in a regulated laboratory (GLP or equivalent).

  • Laboratory experience supporting clinical trials.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
