Senior Legal Counsel
Minor Hotels Australasia have a rare opportunity for a highly driven Senior Legal Counsel to join Minor Hotels' in-house legal team.
Based in our Brisbane CBD office and reporting to the Head of Legal, this senior role provides expert legal guidance in a fast-paced, national environment. Key Responsibilities Include:
- Providing comprehensive legal advice, recommendations, and support to key internal stakeholders, including the Owners Department, Property Division (70+ properties), Leadership Team, Executive Committee, Head of Legal, and Commercial Departments.
- Managing legal matters by offering expert advice, preparing, and reviewing contracts and other legal documentation.
- Keeping the Head of Legal fully informed of significant legal or compliance issues arising from ongoing work.
- Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing corporate, sponsorship, software-related, and other commercial agreements, including hotel management and operational contracts.
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating Hotel Management Agreements (HMAs), property leases, and associated documentation.
- Supporting the legal team in managing agreements related to the acquisition or divestment of hotels, including purchase and sale agreements.
- Preparing, renewing, and assigning MLR Agreements, leases, HMAs, and franchise agreements as required.
- Providing expert advice on General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance and privacy legislation.
To be successful in this role you will require the following:
- Tertiary qualification in Law or Law/Commerce.
- Admission to practice as a solicitor in Queensland.
- At least 6 years of post-admission experience, with demonstrated expertise in Property Law or Hotel Law highly regarded.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with executives, managers, staff, external counsel, and regulatory bodies in a professional and collaborative manner.
- High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and exceptional phone and computer skills.
- Excellent planning and organizational abilities to manage competing priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines with a sense of urgency.
