Senior Maintenance Manager

Maersk Container Industry Qingdao is currently seeking a Senior Maintenance Manager of Production Dept, with reference to the head of Production Dept.

Key responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & Vision
 Lead the consolidation of Maintenance Planning, Engineering, and Execution teams.
 Develop and execute the 5-year roadmap: Improve Maintenance work efficiency gains and NVA (Non-Value-Added) reduction.
 Champion the shift to Predictive Maintenance and Industry 4.0 solutions to maximize asset uptime.
2. Operational Maintenance
 Ensure 100% compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) standards (Target: Zero LTI).
 Ensure high equipment reliability and OEE performance in alignment with production targets.
 Own the maintenance budget (OPEX) and ensure alignment with production targets (e.g., SCU &SCI 7.5min takt time).
 Establish and enforce Asset Protection and Loss Prevention protocols.
 Manage CAPEX projects for critical equipment upgrades.
 Further develop the Process Excellence team and support the production efficiency improvement of the Production Department.
3. Digitalization & Maintenance System
 Standardize maintenance dashboards and KPIs using digital visualization tools – BI report.
 Leverage IoT, sensors, and data analytics for early fault detection and root cause analysis.
4. People Leadership & Development
 Lead the cultural shift from "Mechanical Experts" to "Mechatronics Leaders".
 Implement TPM Pillars: Focus on Autonomous Maintenance (Operator Led) and Focused Improvement.
 Manage the talent pipeline: Eliminate low-performing HC, recruit high-potential talent, and close the skills gap in automation/robotics.
5. Continuous Improvement
• Drive root cause elimination instead of repeated firefighting.
• Apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies to reduce downtime and maintenance costs.
• Optimize spare parts inventory management and procurement strategies.
Benchmark against industry leaders (Toyota, Bosch, Lighthouse Factories) to adopt best practices.

We are looking for a candidate with


1. Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Automation Engineering or related field or German-style apprenticeship approved by GCC.
2. Experience:
• 7–10 years in industrial maintenance, at least 3 years in managerial role.
• Proven track record in automation projects, MES, and Industry 4.0 applications.
• Experience in TPM deployment and predictive maintenance implementation.
• Strong knowledge of CMMS/EAM, MES, robotics, PLCs, and industrial IoT.
3. Certifications (preferred):
Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, TPM, Reliability Engineering, PMP.
4. Languages: English (fluent), Chinese (advantage).
5. Competencies
• Strong leadership and people development skills.
• Analytical and data-driven decision-making.
• Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, automation, and maintenance best practices.
• Ability to manage complexity and prioritize under pressure.
• High communication skills for cross-cultural teams (China, Denmark, global stakeholders).
