Reporting to the Head of Credit Strategy, you will lead the design and deployment of data-driven credit strategies, leveraging internal and external data to deliver faster, more consistent credit outcomes. This role plays a critical part in reimagining credit decisioning, shifting from application-based lending to proactive, real-time credit decisions, while maintaining strong risk discipline and governance.

The Credit Risk Strategy team is responsible for designing and delivering data driven credit strategies that reshape how Business Lending credit decisions are made. We are focused on scaling pre-approved and automated lending, delivering faster, more consistent outcomes for customers while operating within risk appetite.

Our work spans the full credit lifecycle, from pre approvals and origination through to in life decisioning, with a focus on reducing customer friction, improving decision quality, and enabling straight through processing at scale.

We leverage data, analytics, and AI alongside strong risk management practices and commercial acumen to design strategies that optimise risk reward outcomes and enable scalable, consistent, and increasingly automated decisioning.

On any given day you will

  • Lead the design and delivery of automated and pre approved credit strategies across all business lending products.

  • Drive expansion of automated decisioning across Business Lending, increasing the proportion of straight through decisions while ensuring alignment to risk appetite.

  • Develop and embed AI enabled credit capabilities, applying data and emerging AI techniques to improve credit decisioning, customer outcomes, and efficiency.

  • Identify and prioritise growth opportunities, including expansion into new segments, products, and higher exposure lending.

  • Own the end to end credit strategy lifecycle, from concept and design through to approval, implementation, monitoring, and optimisation.

  • Lead continuous optimisation of credit strategies, using data to refine scorecards cut offs, and decision rules to improve risk reward outcomes.

  • Lead and develop a high performing team, providing coaching, direction, and capability uplift.

  • Partner across Product, Distribution, Technology and Risk teams, providing clear and confident engagement with senior stakeholders, including risk forums, executive leadership and regulatory stakeholders.

Your experience looks like

  • Extensive credit risk experience (7+ years), ideally in business or retail lending.

  • Strong technical skills (e.g. SQL, Python, R, SAS) and advanced analytics capability.

  • Strong data, analytics and AI capability applied to credit risk/decisioning.

  • Commercial acumen with ability to translate risk–reward into actionable credit strategies.

  • Experience designing and implementing automated credit decisioning (e.g. scorecards, optimisation).

  • Innovative mindset—able to challenge and rethink existing approaches using data and technology.

  • Proven delivery focus, taking strategy from concept to production

  • Strong risk mindset with understanding of governance and regulatory requirements.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and ability to simplify complex concept.

  • People leadership experience, with a track record of building high-performing teams.

  • Experience with external data sources (e.g. open banking, transaction data).
