KEY ACCOUNTAIBILITIES

Strategic Risk Leadership

  • Develop and implement risk management strategies and frameworks in alignment with Group and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a key advisor to entity Heads of Risk for both insurance and Takaful, senior management and Board committees on financial and NFR matters.

Operational Risk

  • Lead enterprise-wide risk programs including RCSA, KRI, ICP risk incident management, and privacy impact assessments.

Financial Risk Oversight (FRM) – Product, Investment & Capital

  • Provide independent review and challenge on:
    • Product risk assessments (pricing adequacy, assumptions, guarantees, embedded options, Shariah considerations for takaful).
    • Investment risk exposures, including asset allocation, concentration risk, credit risk, and ALM alignment.
    • Capital adequacy and solvency positions (e.g., ICAAP, stress testing, capital planning).
  • Ensure alignment with BNM requirements (e.g., Risk Governance Policy, Capital Adequacy Framework, Investment Guidelines).
  • Assess new products, campaigns, and repricing decisions from a financial risk perspective.
  • Review profitability vs risk trade-offs, ensuring sustainable and prudent risk-taking.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders (Group FWD, business units) and external parties (regulators, auditors).
  • Represent the company in regulatory discussions and audits where required in supporting HoR and CCGO.

Leadership & People Development

  • Mentor and guide risk management team members.
  • Promote risk awareness and culture through training and engagement programs, i.e., offsite team building, quarterly bulletin, monthly engagement with Control Advocates.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science/Risk Management with actuarial papers from the SOA/equivalent. A qualified actuary will be preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in risk management, with 4 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements (BNM) and enterprise risk frameworks.

KNOWLEDGE & TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Strong expertise in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) frameworks and methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of BNM regulatory requirements, governance standards, and reporting (e.g., ORR).
  • Skilled in complex risk assessments across operational, outsourcing, third-party, and project.
  • Proficient in policy development, data analysis, and preparing risk reports for senior management and regulators.
  • Knowledgeable in market conduct risk, fraud risk, and privacy impact analysis.
  • Familiar with digital risk and cybersecurity implications.
