Senior Manager – Power Generation Engineering (Data Center Infrastructure)

The Senior Manager, Power Generation Engineering provides strategic and organizational leadership for the engineering, standardization, and lifecycle management of power generation infrastructure supporting hyperscale and enterprise data centers worldwide. This leader is responsible for building and developing a high-performing engineering team while establishing the technical vision, governance, and design standards that ensure safe, reliable, resilient, and scalable power generation solutions across a global portfolio.

Reporting as a senior engineering leader, this role drives enterprise-wide engineering strategy for diesel and natural gas generation, microgrids, fuel systems, renewable energy integration, energy storage, switchgear interfaces, and associated control systems. The Senior Manager partners closely with Architecture, Design, Construction, Operations, Commissioning, Procurement, Supply Chain, and external engineering firms to deliver standardized, innovative, and cost-effective solutions that support long-term business growth and operational excellence.

Engineering Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of power generation engineers, fostering technical excellence, collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Establish the strategic vision and engineering roadmap for power generation infrastructure across the global data center portfolio.
  • Build organizational capabilities through talent development, succession planning, knowledge management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as the executive technical authority for power generation systems, providing leadership on complex engineering decisions, risk management, and technology adoption.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment among Design, Construction, Operations, Procurement, Commissioning, and executive leadership to ensure successful project delivery.

Engineering Strategy & Governance

  • Develop and maintain global engineering standards, design criteria, equipment specifications, and operating philosophies for standby and prime power generation systems.
  • Lead engineering governance processes to ensure consistency, quality, maintainability, and scalability across multiple global programs.
  • Guide technology roadmaps and evaluate emerging power generation technologies, advanced controls, renewable integration, and energy storage solutions.
  • Establish engineering best practices that improve reliability, operational resilience, lifecycle cost, and sustainability.

Technical Leadership

  • Provide engineering oversight throughout concept development, detailed design, construction, commissioning, and operational handoff.
  • Lead technical design reviews for multiple concurrent projects, ensuring compliance with Tier III/Tier IV reliability objectives and corporate standards.
  • Review engineering calculations, specifications, studies, and design documentation prepared by internal teams and external consultants.
  • Evaluate equipment selections and maintain strategic technical relationships with major OEMs, engineering consultants, and technology partners.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) to validate system performance and reliability.

Business & Operational Excellence

  • Support long-range capacity planning and infrastructure expansion strategies.
  • Partner with Procurement and Supply Chain to develop technical specifications, support bid evaluations, and optimize supplier performance.
  • Drive standardization initiatives that improve project execution, reduce lifecycle costs, and increase operational consistency across the enterprise.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, industry standards, corporate engineering requirements, and reliability objectives while continuously identifying opportunities for innovation and process improvement.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Experience

  • 15+ years of engineering experience in power generation or mission-critical infrastructure.
  • 5+ years leading engineering teams or technical programs.
  • Experience supporting hyperscale, colocation, utility, industrial, or mission-critical facilities.
  • Proven experience with large generator installations (300MW+ units and multi-generation power plants).

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $126,200 to $264,100 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
