Job Description Summary

As Senior Manager - Global Quality Engineering & Continuous Improvement for Dead-tank high-voltage circuit breakers product portfolio, you will lead the definition, deployment, and sustainment of quality engineering processes across the complete product scope. This role defines and implements core quality tools (FMEA, Process control plans, MSA, SPC), establishes governing processes and standards, and ensures all NPI quality deliverables are executed in line with the Confluence NPI process. This position leads to and coaches structure root cause analysis, ensuring effective deployment and sustainment of problem-solving methodologies. As a subject matter expert in Dead-tank high-voltage circuit breakers products, this position leads investigation and resolution of complex quality issues, drives first pass yield improvements, and ensures systematic integration of lessons learned from field performance, customer feedback, and manufacturing operations. This position defines and leads “Quality Built-In” strategies, ensures successful production transfers, and governs the capture and analysis of reliability metrics to drive continuous improvement.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality Process Ownership: Lead the implementation and lifecycle management of FMEA (Design & Process), MSA, and SPC methodologies. Ensure these tools are not just documented but effectively utilized to drive process stability.
  • Failure Analysis Lead: Act as the primary technical lead for investigations into mechanical and insulation failures. Utilize advanced Partial Discharge (PD) analysis to identify root causes and implement sustainable Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Continuous Improvement Mentor: Facilitate 8D and A3 structured problem-solving sessions for high-complexity issues. Upskill plant teams by coaching them on effective containment and prevention techniques.
  • Operational Quality Optimization: Drive Quality Kaizen initiatives to improve First Pass Yield (FPY). Conduct thorough manufacturing process audits to identify variance, detect potential escapes, and enhance product robustness.
  • Project Leadership: Provide dedicated quality assurance for NPI and Transfer of Work (TOW) projects. Ensure project requirements are met through proactive risk identification and robust process controls.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 8–10 years of professional experience in Quality Engineering or Quality Assurance within the power transmission or high-voltage industry.
  • Solid technical expertise in HV circuit breakers, specifically in diagnosing insulation and mechanical failure modes.
  • Proven practitioner of structured problem-solving (8D, A3, Why-Why, Fault Tree Analysis).
  • Strong working knowledge of core quality tools: FMEA, MSA, SPC, and ISO 9001 audit protocols.
  • Demonstrated success in leading quality improvements, reducing defects, and collaborating with cross-functional manufacturing teams.

The base pay range for this position is $123,700.00 - 206,100.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 15 % performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
