Senior Manager, Technical Accounting
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Manager, Technical Accounting based in Canada.
This is a high-impact technical leadership role within a global finance organization, responsible for ensuring the integrity, consistency, and compliance of complex accounting practices across international operations. You will play a key role in interpreting and implementing new accounting standards while supporting accurate financial reporting for quarterly and annual filings. The role requires deep expertise in US GAAP and strong judgment in resolving complex, cross-border accounting issues. You will collaborate closely with regional controllership teams, external auditors, and shared services partners to ensure alignment across all business units. In addition to technical leadership, you will help shape global accounting policies and drive consistency in financial practices. This is a strategic, detail-oriented position suited to a finance expert who thrives in complex, multinational environments.
Accountabilities:
- Lead the interpretation, implementation, and documentation of new and existing accounting standards across global operations.
- Support the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial reporting, including Form 10-Q and Form 10-K filings.
- Ensure consistency and governance of accounting policies, practices, and judgments across all business units.
- Partner with regional controllership teams and external service providers to support audit processes and financial compliance.
- Analyze complex technical accounting issues at both country and group levels, developing practical and compliant solutions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of financial reporting processes and global accounting frameworks.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure accurate financial interpretation and reporting.
- 10–12 years of experience in financial statement audit and reporting within a public accounting firm or large multinational organization.
- Minimum of 5 years in a managerial or senior-level accounting role.
- Active CPA designation is required.
- Strong expertise in US GAAP and multi-jurisdictional accounting and reporting environments.
- Proven ability to manage complex technical accounting issues and deliver high-quality financial analysis.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working with senior leadership.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to operate in a highly regulated and complex environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across global teams and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
