Your role at a glance
The Senior Manger, Operational Technology Architecture provides technical leadership and architectural direction for the organization’s Operational Technology (OT) capabilities. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining the technical vision, reference architectures, and technology roadmaps that support the secure, reliable, and scalable delivery of operational technology services. Working collaboratively across engineering, operations, product, and business teams, the role influences technical decisions, promotes sound engineering practices, and ensures solutions are aligned with both immediate business needs and long-term strategic objectives.As the principal technical advisor for Operational Technology, this position maintains a comprehensive understanding of the OT ecosystem, including current-state and future-state architectures, system interactions, and emerging technologies, recommending practical improvements, and guiding engineering teams toward maintainable, supportable, and commercially sustainable solutions. This position also provides leadership and mentorship to OT architecture resources while serving as the primary technical liaison between Operational Technology and enterprise architecture functions.
What we are looking for
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the long-term architectural vision, technical roadmap, and reference architectures for Operational Technology platforms and services.
- Serve as the principal technical advisor for Operational Technology, providing guidance and recommendations on complex technical decisions, solution designs, and technology investments.
- Partner with engineering, operations, product, and business stakeholders to develop practical, scalable, and maintainable technology solutions aligned with business objectives.
- Produce and maintain architectural documentation, including current-state and future-state architectures, system interaction diagrams, integration patterns, technology standards, and technical decision records.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, software capabilities, and industry trends to recommend appropriate adoption strategies while balancing innovation, operational stability, security, and long-term supportability.
- Lead technical evaluations of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products and recommend build-versus-buy approaches that maximize business value while minimizing unnecessary custom development.
- Collaborate with enterprise architecture teams to ensure Operational Technology solutions align with enterprise technology strategies, architectural principles, security standards, and integration patterns.
- Work closely with Data Center Operations and engineering teams to document the interaction between physical infrastructure, operational systems, telemetry platforms, and business applications.
- Provide architectural leadership for complex initiatives involving operational technology, telemetry, systems integration, cloud services, and operational data platforms.
- Mentor and develop OT architecture personnel while fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and sound engineering practices across technical teams.
- Identify technical risks, architectural debt, lifecycle concerns, and modernization opportunities, providing recommendations to leadership for remediation and investment planning.
- Represent the Operational Technology organization through participation in industry events, professional organizations, and technology forums to maintain awareness of evolving technologies, vendor roadmaps, and industry best practices.
Knowledge & Attributes:
- Working knowledge of Operational Technology (OT) architecture, systems integration, operational data platforms, and technology lifecycle management, with the ability to develop and interpret technical architecture documentation.
- Ability to influence technical direction, evaluate technology solutions, and build consensus across multidisciplinary teams through collaboration, mentoring, and sound engineering judgement.
- Knowledge of Ignition SCADA platform (Inductive Automation) and Niagara Framework (Tridium)
- Knowledge of MQTT telemetry architectures and broker technologies
- Knowledge of industrial protocols (BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, OPC-UA)
- Knowledge of EPMS/BMS platforms and field device integration
- Knowledge of SQL-based data platforms and historian systems
- Knowledge of OT/IT network infrastructure and secure communications (TLS)
- Knowledge of telemetry data modeling, normalization, and ingestion pipelines
- Knowledge of large-scale, multi-site OT telemetry deployments
- Knowledge of data center infrastructure systems (UPS, generators, cooling, PDUs)
- Knowledge of ISA-95 and IEC 62443 architecture and OT security principles
- Knowledge of cloud IoT platforms (Azure IoT, AWS IoT)
- Knowledge of system integration, commissioning, and operational monitoring
Academic Qualifications & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a related technical discipline.
- An equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may be considered.
- Industry-recognized architecture, cloud, or industrial automation certifications.
- Professional certifications related to enterprise architecture, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, or project delivery are considered an asset.
Required Experience:
- 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in Operational Technology, industrial automation, systems architecture, software engineering, or related technical disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing complex operational technology or industrial systems within highly available environments.
- Experience developing technology roadmaps, reference architectures, and long-term technical strategies.
- Experience evaluating commercial technology solutions and making build-versus-buy recommendations based on business, technical, and operational considerations.
- Experience developing and maintaining technical architecture documentation, system diagrams, and design standards.
- Experience integrating operational technology platforms with enterprise systems, cloud services, and data platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction and build consensus across multidisciplinary engineering and operational teams without direct authority.
- Experience mentoring architects, engineers, or other technical professionals.
- Strong understanding of systems integration, operational data flows, networking concepts, cybersecurity principles, and high-availability system design.
- Experience with modern telemetry, industrial automation, cloud, integration, and operational data technologies is strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Primarily sitting with some walking, standing, and bending.
- Able to hear and speak on the telephone.
- Close visual work on a computer terminal.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.
Work Conditions & Other Requirements:
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as business needs require.
- Participation in technical planning sessions, site visits, industry conferences, and vendor engagements.
- Ability to support critical initiatives outside normal business hours when required.
- Occasional visits to operational facilities and technical environments requiring adherence to applicable safety and security procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership, technical teams, business stakeholders, and external partners.

Compensation Pay Range
For roles residing in the US, we share pay and benefit levels to support pay transparency requirements. For other countries, we are more than happy to share our competitive pay and benefit levels during the interview process.
This is a remote position that requires reliable internet connection and electricity. A monthly stipend is provided to cover expenses associated with working remotely and use of a personal mobile device, if applicable.
NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Base salary for this position is $175,000 - $250,000.
All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
