SENIOR MECHANIC

GENERAL JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY

The purpose of the Senior Mechanic is to ensure that all job assigned to mechanics are completed in a timely manner; ensure quality assurance and work with the Service Center Supervisor to ensure optimization of full potential of the Service Center through growth and development.


ROLE SPECIFICATIONS

  • Recommend process change improvements for administrative procedures of the service center.
  • Recommend process change improvements for mechanical procedure of the service center team.
  • Answering customer questions about services products via telephone or face to face.
  • Check all vehicles, make diagnosis and recommendations of scope of work to be done and parts needed.
  • Check all jobs and drive test vehicles after completion of work to ensure desired results for quality assurance and mechanical completeness.
  • Making recommendations on the pricing of services.
  • Recommend additional services to be added or services to be removed from offering by the service center.
  • Provide technical advice on the parts that are deemed defective by customers.
  • Ensure that all customers are registered and provided with a next-in-line number before work is started.
  • Ensure cleanliness of workstations and maintenance of the work tools and equipment.
  • Assist Supervisor with monthly reports to ensure accuracy and timely submission.



EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Must have completed The Jamaica- German Automotive School (JAGAS) Motor Vehicle Repairs Level 3 or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Must possess a minimum of 10 years of experience as a mechanic with 3 years in a similar position.
  • Overseas or Dealership experience will be an advantage.
  • Must possess a minimum of three (3) years' experience in the supervisory of mechanics
  • Must possess technical knowledge in Automotive electrical systems, brake systems, engine systems, transmission, suspension, front end, motor vehicle computer systems fuel systems and Air condition systems.
  • Ability to provide clear direction and performance feedback to the mechanics, effectively communicate with team members and customers as well take instruction from supervisor or management.
  • Must be able to accurately assess vehicle, diagnose and troubleshoot issues and recommend corrective work/repairs to be done.
