Are you an experienced investigator who believes that fairness, care and integrity should sit at the heart of every process? Macquarie University is seeking a Senior Misconduct Coordinator to play a pivotal part in safeguarding student conduct and academic integrity across our community.

In this role, you will investigate serious student academic integrity and serious misconduct matters, including Gender-based Violence, applying a trauma-informed approach and procedural fairness to every case. Working within the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Dean of Students) portfolio, you will help shape the policies and processes that uphold standards of conduct and integrity University-wide.

This is a meaningful opportunity to apply your expertise where it matters most - guiding sensitive matters with discretion, professionalism and care, while contributing to continuous improvement across the higher education sector.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director, Student Integrity and Compliance, you will work closely with the Complaints, Appeals and Misconduct (CAM) team to respond to and investigate complex student conduct matters. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Investigating cases of serious student academic integrity and serious misconduct, including Gender-based Violence — gathering evidence, interviewing students and staff, preparing case reports and maintaining records in the student misconduct management system.

  • Applying the principles of procedural fairness throughout all investigations.

  • Managing sensitive cases through a trauma-informed lens, with discretion, empathy and professionalism, including clear communication of expectations and timelines.

  • Partnering with internal stakeholders to manage complex cases and providing expert advice on student integrity and misconduct issues.

  • Helping students, staff and other stakeholders interpret and understand complex and sensitive policies and procedures.

  • Establishing and maintaining partnerships with relevant external organisations.

  • Preparing comprehensive, evidence-based reports and contributing input to reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ensuring all investigations align with University policy, higher education best practice, regulatory standards and natural justice principles, and are people-centred, culturally appropriate and accessible.

This is a student-facing role that requires working full-time on campus, and work hours may vary from time to time to accommodate business needs.

About Us

The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Dean of Students), within the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) portfolio, has a key part in overseeing the planning, quality and delivery of education provided to Macquarie's undergraduate and graduate students.

About You

You communicate clearly, build effective working relationships, and remain composed when handling matters under pressure. You are committed to fairness, confidentiality and integrity in everything you do.

Selection Criteria

  • A relevant tertiary degree and/or extensive relevant experience in investigations or compliance roles.

  • Extensive experience in conducting misconduct investigations, preferably in a higher education setting, including evidence collection, interviewing and report preparation.

  • Well-developed analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to manage, analyse and optimise data for misconduct investigations while ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

  • Proven ability to write detailed investigation and case management reports.

  • Demonstrated application of trauma-informed and procedural fairness principles when investigating misconduct matters.

  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, navigate conflict and influence outcomes.

  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and manage sensitive matters under pressure
