Senior Network Administrator & IT Lead

About Fenix One

Fenix One is a global high-frequency trading firm operating across multiple asset classes and financial exchanges. We run proprietary, latency-critical infrastructure across colocation facilities across multiple global sites, connected via dedicated leased lines and managed through our own switching and server hardware. Our Singapore headquarters is home to a high-calibre team of 20–30 people.

This is a senior lead role with full ownership of the network domain. Fenix has established depth in server infrastructure and configuration management; your mandate is to bring the same rigour to the network side — building a function defined by transparency, proactive monitoring, and automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the global network topology across all colocation sites worldwide and the Singapore office; drive continuous improvement in reliability, latency, and capacity.

• Manage and configure our hardware estate: Arista switches, L1/optical switching infrastructure, Solarflare kernel-bypass NICs, and packet capture systems.

• Build and maintain comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and observability for the network layer — latency, throughput, link state, anomaly detection — with full visibility as a baseline, not a goal.

• Drive network automation: standardise configuration management, deployment pipelines, and change procedures to eliminate manual toil.

• Lead colocation build-outs end-to-end: rack planning, cabling, cross-connects, and remote smart-hands coordination across all regions.

• Manage onboarding of new financial exchange connectivity, interfacing directly with exchange technical teams through requirements, testing, and certification.

• Oversee Singapore office IT: in-office data centre, AD, email, storage, workstations, and desktop support for 20–30 staff.

• Own communication to leadership on network status, risks, and roadmap; champion transparency through dashboards, documented decisions, and structured updates.

• Assess team capacity and lead additional hiring when warranted, end-to-end.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on network engineering, with senior ownership of complex, multi-site global environments.

• Deep routing and switching expertise (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, QoS, spanning tree); proven ability to design, scale, and troubleshoot under pressure.

• Hands-on experience with Arista platforms, L1/optical switching, and packet capture tooling.

• Strong data centre and colocation background: cabling, cross-connects, power, and rack management.

• Demonstrated track record building network monitoring, observability, and automation tooling from the ground up.

• Experience with kernel-bypass / low-latency NIC technologies (Solarflare/OpenOnload or equivalent) in performance-sensitive environments.

• Solid Linux fundamentals; capable of writing automation scripts (Python, Bash, or equivalent).

• Experience onboarding exchange or ISP connectivity and managing vendor relationships across multiple regions.

• Excellent English communication — written and verbal — with ability to produce clear documentation and manage remote smart-hands teams.

Highly Desirable

• Background in HFT, algorithmic trading, or other latency-critical financial infrastructure.

• Exposure to financial exchange co-location agreements and direct market access onboarding.

• Experience hiring and developing junior engineers.

• CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent certification.

Who You Are

• Proactive, not reactive — you surface problems and proposals before you're asked.

• You build for visibility: monitoring and documentation are how you demonstrate ownership.

• You default to automation; manual processes are temporary.

• You communicate clearly and early, especially about risk and capacity.

• You thrive with high ownership in a lean, technically demanding environment.

What We Offer

• Competitive senior compensation commensurate with experience.

• Full relocation package to Singapore.

• High autonomy — clear ownership, real decisions.

• Access to specialised, cutting-edge infrastructure across global financial markets.

• Competitive benefits including health coverage.

How to Apply

Submit a CV and a short cover note (one page max) describing a specific infrastructure project you owned end-to-end: the challenge, your approach, and the outcome. Applications without a cover note will not be progressed.
