Senior People & Culture Generalist (Parental Leave Cover, 12-month contract)

FIN VFX is looking for a Senior People & Culture Generalist to join our studio team on a 12-month parental leave cover.


This is a Sydney based, 12-month fixed term role with a genuine pathway to permanency for the right person. It's been deliberately structured to set you up for success, starting with a full onboarding period working directly alongside FIN's Head of People & Culture before stepping up to lead independently, and then transitioning into a clearly defined senior role within a growing people team. If you're someone who wants real breadth, real responsibility, and the chance to build something rather than just maintain it, this is that role.


This is a hands-on generalist role sitting at the heart of our people operations. You will be supporting everything from onboarding and HR admin to employee experience, compliance, and day-to-day P&C queries. You'll work closely with our HR Manager and studio leadership to keep our people function running smoothly during a period of exciting growth.


You'll be someone who's comfortable rolling up their sleeves, genuinely enjoys the variety that comes with a true generalist role, and thrives in a fast-moving, creative environment. Experience in the screen, media, or entertainment industries is a plus, but a love of great work and great people matters more.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years in a senior HR or people operations role, ideally in a fast-paced creative, media, or production environment Solid working knowledge of the Fair Work Act, employment compliance, and HR policy
  • Comfortable operating independently and making judgment calls without a lot of hand-holding, Phase 2 requires independent decision making and problem solving
  • Strong people instincts and the ability to read a situation and handle it well
  • Confident managing up, across, and down, working with the MD, Department Managers, and the HR Manager all at once
  • Discretion, good judgment, and low ego
