Senior Pipeline Engineer (Project Contract)

Job Title:

Senior Pipeline Engineer (Contract).


Reports to:

Engineering Manager


Responsibilities:

  • Ensure preparation of design deliverables with due consideration of applicable codes and standards.
  • Ability to prepare Project Scope of work and also extract project Scope of Work from contract scope.
  • Prepare Pipeline Deliverables for the various engineering phases: Conceptual, Front End Engineering Design (FEED), Detailed engineering Design (DED) and Construction/Installation and Commissioning activities.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, route selection, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with API, ASME, ISO, and local regulatory standards.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZID, HAZOP exercises.
  • Embark on Site visits and verification exercise as required.
  • Obtain/assimilate relevant design input from Lead Engineer and other Engineering disciplines and incorporate in pipeline deliverables.
  • Interpretation of P&IDs, related Piping deliverables on projects.
  • Ensure prompt coordination with other engineering disciplines.
  • Vendor/OEM/Contractor interactions.
  • Supervise contractors during installation and commissioning.
  • Ensure appropriate checking/review of primarily all Pipeline and other related discipline documents/drawings at all revision status.
  • Assist Lead in work, Cost estimation, planning, progress monitoring and adherence to scheduled completion of engineering documents.
  • Implement corrosion control, pigging operations, and leak detection systems.

Technical Requirements

  • Core Educational Qualifications: B.SC: Mechanical/Marine/Civil/Petroleum/Chemical Engineering. (Optional: MSc.: Pipeline, Oil & Gas Engineering).
  • Professional Qualifications: NSE, COREN (mandatory). Others: API, NACE
  • Basic understanding of Pipeline engineering principles.
  • Strong knowledge of pipeline hydraulics, stress analysis, and materials engineering
  • Familiarity with industry standards, notably: ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII, API 1111, etc.
  • Familiarity with recommended practices and carrying out design/engineering of onshore and offshore pipelines as per above codes.
  • Preparation of Alignment sheets, Crossing Drawings, Route Maps, Pipeline Approach Drawings, Pig trap layouts, PLEM layouts, Riser drawings, etc.
  • Interpretation of Equipment drawings for both Mechanical and Pipeline disciplines.
  • Capability to draft Pipeline Design Basis, and Pipeline Deliverables Specifications, etc.
  • Specifying and Procurement of Pipeline and Associated Facilities materials in conformity of Materials codes and standards, such as ANSI, ASTM, ISO, DIN, BS codes, etc.
  • 8 - 10 years experience


Software Competency

  1. Proficiency in using CAESAR II, AVEVA E3D, ANSYS, OFFPIPE, PIPESIM
  2. MathCAD, autoCAD and Microsoft office suite
