Senior Product Engineer
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The BG Product Engineer is the main engineering interface to secure BG Product Requirements for NPI and Industrialization projects at both internal and external manufacturing sites, with a primary focus on managing, auditing, and securing operations at assigned China Subcontractor (Subcon) facilities. This role functions as the technical gatekeeper and operational liaison between the Malaysia hub and the China Subcon site to ensure yield optimization, quality enforcement, and IP compliance in a post-split environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Report operational status, yield risks, and compliance roadblocks directly to the project leader and resource management.
Looking at low yield lots and providing fast and correct disposition of material.
Addressing process issues directly with the subcon team and reporting back to BG Management
Accountable for all product validation, characterization, and qualification data, ensuring total completeness, correctness, and data integrity before product release.
Conclude that products meet strict Nexperia requirements and hold absolute responsibility for the technical content and quality of the remote product release.
Drive cross-functional problem-solving teams (8D) and Failure Analysis (FA) loops to resolve complex out-of-box defects and reliability qualification failures (HTOL/ESD) directly with Subcon engineers.
Act as the primary Change Management Gatekeeper on-site, reviewing and approving/rejecting Process Change Notices (PCNs) or material deviations proposed by the Subcon to mitigate quality and IP risks.
Conduct routine on-site factory floor audits and line verifications to ensure the Subcon strictly adheres to global manufacturing control plans, NPI specifications, and dual-source requirements.
Execute characterization and validation plans (V&V), authoring comprehensive validation reports with clear data-driven conclusions to support site transfers and NPI gates.
Establish localized knowledge-capture pipelines, converting on-site data, yield excursions, and subcon behavior into standardized trip reports and automated dashboards for the Malaysia engineering hub.
Report operational status, yield risks, and compliance roadblocks directly to the project leader and resource management.
SKILLS / COMPETENCIES : Must Have!
Hard Skills:
Education: Bachelor or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
Language Fluency (Non-Negotiable): Complete professional fluency in both English and Mandarin (spoken and written). Must be fully capable of negotiating complex engineering terms, yield excursions, and technical specifications directly with Chinese local engineers and management without translation.
Data Analysis & Statistics: Mastery of semiconductor statistical analysis (SPC, SBL, part average testing) and advanced diagnostic software (e.g., JMP, Galaxy) to independently detect and isolate floor deviations.
Technical Domain: Robust understanding of logic product testing, test methodologies, package structures (e.g., Wire Bond, Clip/Flip Chip), and high-volume manufacturing (HVM) yield dynamics.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit:
Mobility Resilience: Medium -frequency travel readiness (up to 30% travel to mainland China) with the ability to operate autonomously on remote factory floors for extended periods.
Assertive Diplomacy: Strong emotional intelligence coupled with a firm backbone. Must possess the ability to enforce quality standards, hold back borderline lots, or stop a manufacturing line without fracturing vendor relationships.
Ownership & Entrepreneurial Attitude: High initiative to drive peer and gate reviews independently, finding immediate pragmatically sound solutions to keep project timelines on track.
Quality Mindset: Uncompromised adherence to international automotive/industrial qualification standards (AEC-Q100, risk assessment/FMEA).
