Senior Technician —MRO
A Senior Technician (MRO) is responsible for overseeing and supporting the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of our Hovering Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (HAUV) fleet, ensuring vehicles are always in a safe and operational state, repair quality standards are met, and turnaround times are minimised. The role includes hands-on fault diagnosis and repair, guiding junior technicians, and contributing to improvements in maintenance processes and documentation.
Your Job Scope
- Perform hands-on inspection, servicing, and repair of HAUV systems — covering mechanical chassis, pressure hulls, sealing systems, thrusters, actuators, wiring harnesses, power electronics, sensors, and data connectivity.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose faults at system and component level across mechanical, electrical, and software subsystems; use test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, bench power supply) to isolate root causes.
- Carry out component-level rework and repair including PCB soldering and rework, wire harness repair and fabrication, connector retermination, and motor driver and power system repair.
- Verify all repaired assemblies through thorough functional and environmental testing prior to redeployment; conduct or support sea trial verification where required.
- Lead and guide junior technicians on repair tasks, inspection routines, and workshop procedures; ensure work is completed to standard and on time.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on recurring faults and failures; document findings and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Build and maintain clear repair documentation, fault logs, service guides, and step-by-step troubleshooting procedures for common failure modes.
- Provide on-call technical support to field operators for in-field issues; perform remote triage and guide on-site staff through basic fault resolution.
- Collaborate with the engineering and procurement teams to flag design-for-maintainability issues, support introduction of new vehicle variants, and improve overall fleet reliability.
Desired Qualities
- Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics, Aerospace, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in a technical maintenance, MRO, or systems repair role; experience with marine, subsea, robotics, or UAV systems is a strong plus.
- Strong practical skills in electrical and electronic fault-finding — experienced with multimeter, oscilloscope, bench power supply, and component-level diagnosis.
- Hands-on experience with Electronics assembly, PCB rework and soldering, wire harness repair and fabrication, crimping.
- Familiarity with software-side diagnostics — use system logs, SSH and basic CLI tools, and firmware update.
- Able to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and assembly documentation.
- Experience with underwater or subsea equipment repair is a plus.
- Experience with battery systems is a plus.
- Leadership and team coordination skills.
- Meticulous with documentation.
- Good problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Basic computer skills (production systems, reporting tools, MS Office).
- Knowledge in Linux based OS(Ubuntu) is a plus.
