The Transformation Office is responsible for driving enterprise-wide strategic transformation across Northern Trust, partnering with senior leaders to translate strategy into measurable, sustained business outcomes. With a significant focus on transforming Wealth Management, the team leads complex initiatives across strategy, operating model design, data and AI, technology, and change management to reimagine how we serve clients, empower employees, and drive growth. Through a combination of strategic execution, innovation, and disciplined delivery, the Transformation Office builds the capabilities, frameworks, and solutions that enable lasting impact across Wealth Management and the broader enterprise.

The Senior Program Manager leads complex, large-scale enterprise transformation programs that deliver critical strategic capabilities. This role is accountable for end-to-end program execution, aligning resources, managing risk and dependencies, and ensuring delivery of intended business outcomes across a highly matrixed enterprise environment.
This is a senior individual contributor role with significant accountability for results. Success comes through influence, expertise, and disciplined execution rather than direct people management.
What You’ll Do
- Lead enterprise-scale programs with multiple projects and workstreams impacting enterprise-wide transformation initiatives and cross-functional partners.
- Own program scope, timelines, budgets, risks, dependencies, and delivery milestones from initiation through implementation.
- Drive execution of initiatives supporting strategic change and expansion of critical business capabilities.
- Align resources across business, technology, data, operations, risk, and other partners to achieve program objectives.
- Facilitate governance forums and prepare executive-level status updates, risk assessments, and decision materials.
- Track progress against defined business outcomes and benefits realization targets.
- Apply strong analytical judgment to solve complex problems and recommend practical, scalable solutions.
What You Bring
- Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams without direct reporting authority.
- Deep expertise in program and project management disciplines, including delivery in complex, regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of how strategy translates into operational execution.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts and influence senior stakeholders.
- High adaptability and effectiveness in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 10–15+ years of program or project management experience, preferably in financial services.
- Demonstrated success leading large, complex, cross-functional programs with moderate to high risk and visibility.
- Financial services experience required.
- This role is ideal for a seasoned program leader who thrives on execution, accountability, and delivering meaningful business change at enterprise scale.
Salary Range:
$137,400 - 240,400 USDSalary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
